Welcome! We don't need to say "surf" or "community" - we are dropping that - but it looks nice and I want to let it sink in a little bit. I'd love to see some other renditions from you. Thank you for tweaking the first "O", I want something original with the letters. I'm not opposed to drifting into 2 color territory or seeing shading. You are stepping up the quality here now.
I'm so tired! I have to come at it fresh tomorrow. I'm sorry. They both feel good. Can you get the sitting person on there? Can the last O be a wave? I don't know. I can't think! ha, ha. I like the relaxed feel - that is what we are going for but it might need a little excitement hence the wave working into it somehow. Or maybe the e can be a wave somehow. I don't know - that "a' and "e" face each other but could be the same symbol - just flipped. Something could work into that but I don't know what. Some wave or flower or maybe just the symmetry of it. You know?
I love number 25. Can you bring some of these other elements into it that Ana is using? The sitting woman but with arms wide open. I like the hair to the side. I nice curling wave like a surf company would use in their logo would be good. I like your font though and the feel of this. We are mostly after a younger audience - we need to bring a little more youth and action into it, but keep the soft mellow feel. Can you go down this road with me? Thank you!
Sofiko, I like where you have gone with number 40. We need to lose the words, "surf community" though and... can you work a nice barreling wave into it somehow? a barreling wave is the kind that forms a "C" and the surfer can get inside of it. I'm feeling this design though. It's just not there yet. This flipped over "e" isn't ideal for us either. Can you work with the a / e situation a little to make them a little more amorphic - is that the right word. A little more interchangable?
Please look for an updated notes and brief within 2 hours of the end of the initial contest. You are a qualifier. Congratulations! We love your work. This has been a learning process for us. Thank you for staying through out lack of clarity. We will publish notes for all of our finalists by 11:30 Mountain time in the USA. Thank you. In the meantime, please review our website at oceanocommunity.com to become very familiar with our business. Thank you. Our Team.
Thank you to all of our Finalists. We greatly appreciate your work and your talents.
This has been a discovery process for us. Now we have 46 hours to look at final submissions.
Clarity for you. 1. We want a Word Mark that we can use in one color if we need to which still looks great. 2. We need a format which in some way - will fit into a square well, for Twitter and other applications so a recognizable Pictorial Mark is likely a good way to fit that format. 3. We want lower case letters. Oceano is a masculine word in Spanish and we feel it is neutralized a little by using lower case. 4. There is symmetry to the the word "oceano" in lower case. In fact we have an "o" on each end and the "e" and the "a" in the middle can be the same letter flipped. It is like a backwards 69, so of course we love that! Please utilize it - (it doesn't have to look like a 69 - just having fun) . 5. We like "ocean" in a more compressed or neutral form. Not elongated - at times - we may use the Word Mark on it's own without the Pictorial Mark. If you have a space at the bottom of the Pictorial Mark where we could later, insert the Word Mark, that would be helpful. In this case, that would most likely be the ocean as we would like you to use a wave image in your Pictorial Mark. Medium to thin letters seem to be working best for us. 6. Most of the time we will use the Pictorial Mark and the Word Mark together. In some cases, like twitter, we may use just the Pictorial Mark. In other cases like stenciling the name on property items or gates, we may use just the Word Mark. 7. We gave you the elements: Wave, Lotus, Surfer, Yoga/Meditaion/Happy person pose. None of them have to be obvious and maybe you don't use all of them. A nice looking wave or a barreling wave, tells surfers that we have good waves - the image may not need a surfer in it, but we are also not against that. 8. Multi-color designs are good but imagine that if the logo is on a black and white printer, that it also works that way as well. Make it flexible. Ideally we will stay with either just blue, just white, just blue and green, just blue and gold.
8 is a lucky number so let's stop there! Please ask questions if you need more direction. Some of you we would like to see start over or make an addition. Others are already close.
Thank you and good luck! We will stay as available as possible to give you feedback.
OK - Here is what we think. 1. We like that in number 108, the O can be used as the first letter. This gives us some diversity with the logo. 2 We want to let go of the "a", "e" flip idea - no one was able to do anything impressive with it and we are over it. What's more important is that we have a font that fits our image. Try the a from #25 3. Can you take the design elements of the leave overlaps on the #109 and use them on the #125? 4. We also might have to eliminate the little head - we are thinking that it might not be the right fit for us now.
It's close. I'm sorry we are so difficult. This has been a real learning process for us. We're excited to finish this off with you.
I'm at #415 four four four and then six six and then 10. That would be a way to check in directly. This is tedious. We are really close - what I was hoping to see is the NEW lotus design, hollowed out like the old one and then maybe if it had some overlap on the circle. I think we are really close. The A looks good - the main thing is that we get your letter mark right - then we can likely have some flexibility on font if we need it. The ph/one thing would be good. I know it's probably against the rules but I feel like that would be effective at this point in the game. :)
What if we take number 141 and remove the line above the lotus since we have taken the head out? So there is no longer a "Y". Thank you. Hope you are well.
I am not allowed to provide personal information before contest`s end. If you have any comments or questions you are always welcome to write me here or in the private messages. All those rules has been made to protect you as a client and me as a designer in any disputable case. Thank you for understanding.
So, if I close it will you work this out with me. I just need to talk about formats and the four variations that we need - 2 upright (color and white) - 2 horizontal (color and white) - the final design - no "Y" or head.
I'll end this now as long as we can talk if something comes up. sorry been really busy.
So, we want to get the files from you or I want to talk to you and have your contact info before I can release the prize money. We would like the files for the 4 designs white and colored with the 2 different layouts. It just saves us time. Mike is our web and tech guy - I'm waiting from him to hear specifically what he wants. I would like a more personal connection with you at this point. please figure out a way to get me your info in case there are any problems. I'll talk to Mike now.
