Other Info:We were thinking along the lines of a mostly black and white line drawing type of logo with some small colour elements to stand out e.g. flower, leaf. Open to more colours though, particularly those evocative of the Arts & Crafts movement, nature, wellbeing/health/relaxation and Scotland (e.g. purple heather, green leaves, blue/grey sea)
Our Ideas & Additional Information
The house is very much in line with the Arts and Crafts movement and retains many original features. Please refer to our PinTrest site for inspiration of the types of pictures, logos etc we like. One of the most important thing for us is to use some of the elements from around the house e.g. the carved wall flowers, or the thistle and rose used on the front of the house and the conservatory. There are photos on the Pintrest site to show you these elements. We would also like to indicate the wildlife which frequents our grounds e.g. by including a small squirrel (red not grey), roe deer or song bird. As the house has been a personal and spiritual development centre for many years and has a reputation for being transformative and slightly magical, it would be great for this to be reflected in the logo if possible. This could be through incorporating an Arts and Craft style fairy or other fantasy element. I am aware that its probably not possible to have flowers, wildlife and fairies .. but some of these would be great. William Morris is a great example of the kind of designs we like. Here is a link to our Pintrest site http://pinterest.com/newboldhouse/redesign-brand-inspiration/. We particularly like the idea of a Wordmark using an Arts and Crafts syle font - embroidered with vegetation and wildlife. However we would also consider an emblem which incorporates nature and this type of Vintage/Victorian/Arts & Crafts style. There are loads of good images online if you Google Arts & Crafts movement. Thank you and looking forward to seeing some designs :)

Discussion

Hi, although this is a smart logo (the one with NH in a diamond) it is much too corporate for us. I am not keen on the lettermark logos which is why I didn't tick that box. We are looking for a more friendly, illustrative type design, as I said a wordmark or emblem. This logo does not have nature based element which is our most important criteria, and it also does not include any of the design elements from the house, which are shown in photographs on our Pintrest site. There is also nothing on this logo that would make me think 'Scotland' . Please could we have something with the elements we have requested. I am wondering if this is too difficult as we have had so few entries, but I can see it so clearly in my minds eye and it doesn't seem that complicated. Just the name Newbold House in an old fashioned font, with a small illustrative embroidering of the letters - a leaf or flower/thistle and maybe a small bird or other wildlife element. This is the first time we have tried a logo crowdsourcing site and as a charity we have very little money to spend on this kind of thing. We would really appreciate your help.

Great - we are getting some designs which are more what we are looking for now. Thanks for responding to my comments :)

I would really like to see the WordMark type design with a simplified decoration - maybe just a couple of the letters, or the corners of the logo decorated - rather that surrounding the whole lettering (which is a bit too busy). I would also love it if the decoration actually had recognisable flower/leaf/thistle - rather than general swirly bits.

Regarding the Font I would love to see a Victorian or Arts and Crafts stype font used.

Here are a few example of Fonts and floral/vegatative designs which we love:

This is the Scottish Thistle/star decoration from the top of our Victorian conservatory:

This is a couple of the 44 lovely carved wooden flowers which decorate the wood panelling throughout the house:

I would quitelike to see some logos with a bit of colour as well - even if its just a bit of green or purple/red etc on the leaves/flowers/decorative aspect rather than the lettering.

Heres a link with a nice green and yellow colour scheme - really friendly, nature based and warm

This one has nice muted/natural greens and blues

And this one is really nice - with pinks as well as the greens and blues

Wow, this is really speeding up - and its supposed to be my day off work ;)

I love some of the designs coming in using birds and flowers and also showing that its a house. Very clever. Some are getting too complex - I know thats my fault for asking for too much !

The Arts and Crafts movement was all about simplicity - so one flower or bird or leaf or sun will definitely do, rather than 2 or 3 :)

I like the way that some of the logos are starting to incorporate the strapline as well. That looks good.

Some colour please..... just so I can see what it looks like.

thank you thank you - I know some of you are sending multiple logos and are working really hard on this for us.

I will be going out soon so won't be able to keep leaving regular feedback for the rest of the competition.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all your wonderful submissions. There have been some fantastic ones in the last few hours. I really appreciate all your efforts and I am going to have a hard time deciding between my favourite designs. I will be emailing my colleagues today for their comments and feedback. I'm really grateful for how well and how quickly several of you responded to my ideas and feedback, and I know this has significantly improved the designs for us and got them closer and closer to what we were looking for.

Thanks again!
