#61 | I thought a non cliche way to give reference to the body and the community, is with a tapestry.
You may be familiar with recording artist Geoff Moore, who wrote a song called "Threads" years ago: "And There's A Hand That Sews The Threads Together Around One Strand Of Saving Scarlet Thread Come As You Are Weary, Worn, And Tattered Come And Take Your Place Among The Threads."
I love what this can symbolize for God's body. We are all in need of our place.
Hey Paul! I just read your explanation on the tapestry. That's an awesome image. Can we explore that some more? I have to admit I didn't recognize it as a tapestry at first-- I thought it was just a cross. But then after reading your description and looking a little closer I saw that it was a tapestry. Would you mind providing some more options centered around that theme? Let me know. Thanks!
David - Thanks for the kind words about the design. Please note that I will be traveling today, but will be arriving back late afternoon. Your contest will be in judging mode by that time. The good news is the top ranked designer (exclusively) can continue working and uploading during judging. So I will be glad to send additional tapestry themed options at that time.
One thing to consider too...(My marketing mind is always churning)...Is that you could use a tagline to tie it all together. Something like: "The Fabric Of A New Community." You could use the concept in so many ways. Using threads to connect web pages, social media etc...
Paul, I really like your work. Thanks for sending those new variations. Let me throw them past my leadership team and we'll let you know which way we're leaning. Thanks again! David
I like to try and give my clients something to set them apart. There are some overused styles that flood every marketplace these days. Yes, even church logos fall victim to this.
Another nice piece is this one about the 83 best church logos of 2012. You'll see a real moving away from overt cliche concepts to more abstract ones that encourage dialog and explanation. http://churchrelevance.com/resources/top-church-logos/
I encourage my church clients to have an unveiling of the logo to the congregation. Explaining it. Using it as a rallying point, just as most businesses have begun doing.
If I can be of any further help, please let me know.
Hey friend! I like where we're headed. As much as I like the warmth that the colors brown & orange add, I'm wondering what it would look like if we went more strong with the colors. Could we try logos #40, #66 & #67 with Green, Blue & Red? And then as far as the text goes, would we be able to change it to a font that was a little more bold? We have 2 signs that people drive by that I'm really wanting visitors to be able to read at a quick glance. When you re-do #40, feel free to delete the slogan. I don't think we're going to include that in the logo. Thanks again for all your help & I'll look forward to seeing the adjustments.
So I just had my staff look at the logos and they really like #63. And I like #72. What I'm wondering is if we could somehow find a happy medium: I think we've decided that we want the colors to be the stronger Green, Blue & Red colors, so if you could change the weave part on #63 to be those colors instead, then that would be great. And then-- (and I'm not married to this idea, I just want to try it on for size)-- what if the three diagonal stripes from #72 replaced the letter "E" in the word "NEW"? We would have to find a font that would compliment that idea, but I'm wondering if that would work. Do you mind trying playing around with some of those ideas? Let me know. Thanks!
Hey Paul! We're only a couple of days away from pinning down the winner. The winning logo will definitely be one of yours, I just want to make sure it's exactly what we're looking for. If I had to choose today, I would pick #78, but I don't want to rule out the idea of the three diagonal stripes either. I've attached a couple of ideas for you to look at. I'm not sold on any font yet (including the one on the attachments). I'm just curious if you could play with the raw material a little more. I feel like we're pretty close. Thanks again for all of your help. I'll talk to you soon!
David - I've been away for the last two days, and just arrived back home. I will take a look and the attachments and try and get this done tomorrow. It may be late, as I have a bit of a logjam.
Thanks again, and bear with me for the next day or so, while I catch up.
#79 | #80 | #81 - As requested. I think it may be overkill to add the second logo to the "E".
One thing to consider (If you'll allow me to be a salesman for a moment) Is if you really like the three line design, it might work great as a ministry logo within the church. Maybe for the youth group logo, or if you have a small group ministry. I could work that out with you after the fact, at a minimal agreed upon price. We don't discuss deal specifics here, due to the risk of backdoor deals that could happen, but since you have stated that you will select one of my designs, I can make the other one available after the fact for an agreed price.
My suggestion though, is to go with the design currently ranked 1st. It is the best of my designs from a marketing perspective. Its simple and uncluttered, yet it gives you the opportunity to tell an awesome story of how "we are a fabric of believers weaved into this new community."
I'm excited about the prospects of it, because it just sums up our faith.
