Respected artists,

As you may have observed, MyTownMedia.com already has a logo, however, I believe this brand could "go all the way", appear in millions of dollars worth of advertisements, be nationally recognizable, and, as such, I'd like a better logo.

One element of the current mytownmedia.com logo that I like is the use of the pin (like the pin marker you would find in the generic iphone map) as something like a radio tower. It conveys a broadcast media feel which is pretty cool. However, my mind is open and we may not want to go in that direction at all.

The winner of this campaign will be the person who can use a logo/mark to convey to the viewer that MTM is a national network of highly trained LOCAL media experts (a media expert is someone who knows how to get attention using advertising: radio, tv, classified ads, craigslist, blogs, etc.). Local media experts know their area, their city, their town: they know the best way to get the attention of their neighbors in the ads they place, buy, post, or write about far better than a national advertiser would: that is our advantage.

I hope this makes sense. Please know that as owner of attentionventures.com I'm looking for talented graphic designers ALL THE TIME. Even if you're not chosen as winner, if your submission(s) are creative and attractive, you're still a candidate for compensation and recognition in any number of our other businesses.

I appreciate your participation and interest in making the "my town" mark truly unique and eye-catching.

Thanks,

Hey all,

Please realize that my liking the pin in our current logo at mytownmedia.com should not mean that it should be included in a new logo. In fact, the main reason for coming to LT is to get fresh ideas for the logo.

I don't know if we should use the acronym "MTM" or "mTm", or any variation, maybe? I will say that I like the look and color palate at sites like these:

one of my sites: http://zipgraphs.com/

and of course, my favorite: www.apple.com

Hey All,

I've been doing a lot of thinking and really want to help contribute (vs. just ordering samples without commentary).

At the highest level, I'm very much attracted to simplicity for this name, but cannot for the life of me think of a symbol or image that would convey a level of aesthetic "cool", information, or "feeling".

I have one new idea however that I'd really like to see tried: What about a road sign of some type that contained the entire company name or some part of it (like "my town")? The first thing that came to mind was a freeway overhang (the ones that show you what exit to get off on or lane to get in) and maybe a road, maybe not.

If there is an illustration involved I would ask that you make whatever it is easily recognizable (like the "f" icon for facebook.com, or the "in" box used by "linkedin.com").

Good luck all.

Thanks,

CH

Hey all,

OK, we know what we want now, we just don't know exactly how it should look!

Here's the logo style that we're 98% certain we want: A STYLIZED VERSION OF THE IPHONE MAP PIN.

Yep, simple sounding, but I know it can be presented in a very clever way (that we're not smart enough to think of...).

We want a version of the "pin" that is used to show a certain point on an iphone map. The logo should basically look like that pin, but stylized in some cool and clever way(s). The styling could include the "broadcast" radio waves (we'd like to see them a bit curved as well) or some other smart idea, but we're all but SOLD on the concept of the iphone map pin. Please try different colors/shades, and consider removing "My Town" and/or "Media" from the logo (the pin might suffice as an indicator of geography...a town).

We prefer the Helvetica font.

Please try and come up with the Nike Swoosh equivalent for the map pin! I appreciate your contributions!

REALLY GETTING CLOSE!!!

Hey all, just so you know, I'm going to put in $100 for the runner-up (second place) and $50 for third place. I just think it's more fair, so let me know your paypal addresses if you come in 2nd or 3rd.

So, I'm VERY HAPPY WITH THE PIN CONCEPT and the early designs are VERY promising. I don't plan on postponing the contest again, so please move on this if you'd like to be in the game.

A few pointers:

1. REALLY like the color palette in logo's: #52 and #124 (I like the green in #52 but am not sure about the yellow...maybe too busy?). I don't like gradient colors on letters.

2. I think I want a straight vertical view of the pin like in #113 (vs looking at it from above, or some other angle) though this isn't something I'm convinced about (I'm quite tempted by #105 and #103, though I really think the body of the pin needs to be thin, vs. fat like each of those examples...and I also like a thinner "radio wave"). I'd also like to see the pin tilted slightly (if it makes sense), but I really think it's going to need to be vertical (I could see the pin hovering above a TV to denote My Town TV Media, or a mailbox, etc...it would look weird if it was at an angle...I think).

3. I think the "radio waves" should emanate from one side vs. both, and from left to right (like in #113). I say this because it just looks more unique to us (maybe we can experiment with it going more "northeast" vs. more horizontal (west to east), but again, the more unique the pin and the waves, the more likely we can trademark it. I also like them thin, and bent (hmmm, that' didn't sound right, but..) and not straight like the ones in #52 (though I like the creativity in the waves on #52, they look like there was real thought put into their shape...considering the minimalist direction this logo is moving in, we really need the pin and waves to look as original as possible!).

4. I'm now at the point where I don't think "My Town Media" should appear in the logo. I don't like the "M" examples like #136 and #113. The pin represents geography (my town) and the waves represent messaging (media). I'm really attracted to the simplicity in that design....thanks for your efforts. GOOD LUCK!

Best,

CH

BTW: So you all know, this isn't going in front of an ice cream stand, my last company (bargain.com) acquired over 10,000,000 users...This company will be bigger!
