What We Do
Mountain Toppings is a Vermont based brand of sauces, syrups, jams, jellies, and dressings. All natural ingredients, organic where possible, and most important, incredibly delicious.

While all of our offerings are good enough to be eaten on their own, they are designed to "top" your favorite foods, whether that be pancakes, ice cream, or salads. Think of your favorite food, and we can top that!

Mountain Toppings features farm products from, and is a registered trademark of, Golden Dog Farm in Vermont.

Color Preferences
Open to any colors. Needs to have appetite appeal. Logo needs to reproduce well in b&w.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
The name lends itself to doing something with the M and Mountains. I like simple, but clever marks. If you look at our previous contests, we do gravitate to logos that work well as a unit. This needs to not only live online, but on physical packaging - jars, bottles, flasks, etc. It needs to be relatively versatile.

If you visit our current farm website, you can see what a beautiful place these products will be originating from. We have maple syrup, honey, hundreds of fruit trees and berry bushes (apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, and cherries. Blueberries, currants, elderberries, etc. We also have pine nuts and hazelnuts.

While Golden Retrievers are a huge part of our current identity as a farm, they do not need to be a part of this logo development.

Hello - thanks for considering and for participating in our Logo contest. My goal will be to log in twice/day and give feedback to all designers. I am on eastern time in the United States. I would plan to log in the morning (10a) and early evening (7p).

A piece of overall feedback is that, probably due to my original direction, we are putting more emphasis on Mountains versus Toppings. But Toppings literally defines the category we are in - not mountains. And remember we are selling a food product. Lots of entries and we are super appreciative, taking more time to work through comments on individual designs. Will try to do so in next 24 hours.

I've done a first pass on all of the logos to date. A few additional bits of guidance, and clarification based on what I'm seeing to date.

1. The importance of MOUNTAIN as a part of our name. We are in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Overall that means Mountain is the source of where these products are coming from. Vermont has a great brand - and a reference to it probably has a home in the logo. Mountains should help communicate a natural, fresh environment. All natural. Healthy.

2. Toppings is being underplayed in the majority of the submissions, it is the product category. Literally the name was chosen when we realized everything we are making gets put on another food as part of the consumption. Jelly on bread. Fruit sauces on fruits or ice creams. Syrups on pancakes, waffles, etc. Most of the stuff is sweet. Vinaigrettes being the exception, but we haven't even made one yet, so maybe that can be set aside for the moment.

3. If you look at our current farm logo on our maple syrup, you see we present it one color. I'll upload an image so you can see. The product in the clear glass container is the hero. That will be the case here too. So while we use our 4 color logo in lots of places, we chosen not to for our food packaging. Think about what you. are presenting in that light as well.

4. If we are to include a dog in here, I would see it as being very subtle, if it were software, it would be considered an easter egg. You only notice it if it is pointed out. I love easter eggs to be clear, so surprise me! This is a bonus thing though, have to check all of the other boxes first. If you do it successfully, you may have to highlight in a comment that you've done so. Don't feel bad about having to point out in this case - that is the objective.

One more thing, I am in the car tomorrow for 9 hours driving from Ontario to Vermont. My lack of feedback throughout the day will be due to that. I apologize in advance for being out of touch.

Cheers!

Sorry for radio silence most of the day, was traveling from Ontario back to Vermont. Long day. More timely feedback tomorrow. Will comment more as we get closer to the end. Tomorrow morning (US eastern time), I will spend more time getting rankings cleaned up and give feedback as I make changes. Thank you to everyone for participating.

One request, for my sake, there are many, many submissions. Please don't submit variations on the same thing where there are minor tweaks to type or color. I can give better, more substantive feedback to fewer ideas - unless I tell you I don't like a color or want you tweak the type, leave those kinds of variations for the finalist round please. Thank you!

If you have a variation where you have been tweaking and you like ti better and want that to be the one for me to consider, then withdraw the earlier ones.

Thank you! I appreciate all of the thinking. So many great ideas being explored.
