I like the type on all of these and the color scheme on #47, and think the concept is strong but could have better execution. Maybe there needs to be some hint at the building's outline? I wouldn't know what I'm looking at.

#44 is interesting. Kind of like a cubist painting. Too colorful and abstract, I'm afraid. #43 has the strongest graphic representation, but it comes off as too heavy. Maybe there is some combination of #47 and #43 that would look good?

I like how you are thinking outside the box on this one. I was wondering if you could give me another concept, but could you try a geometric abstract shape to the left of the text? Something with some curves that is kind of sculptural so I can have two styles to consider, and something to contrast these hard edged designs. Something like these perhaps? http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt190/ClearSpace/classic-modernism.jpg

Thanks!

I like #90 the best. If you come up with any new ideas, try them out, but It's a strong contender. I may ask you to play around with the color scheme as the contest progresses. Thanks for trying out something different.

#190 and #191 are cool. I like #191 the best. Strong contender. Could you try it with a darker color scheme? That may not work, but I am finding that the darker stuff looks better next to the renderings of our homes. Thanks!

On #190, could you try it so that the angles on the two squares are not as extreme, or figure out some way to make it feel closer to the type? It feels like it gets a little lost and disconnected. Maybe the scale of the graphic needs to be adjusted? Otherwise, it is looking good on my test sheet.

I know this is stupid, but could I see #90 centered in the frame like the other logos? It helps me out. Thanks.

Not in the least stupid. Apples and apples. But - the reason I placed it as I did, was to suggest to you that I'm seeing its placement in your materials off-center and to the right and toward the bottom. Not where one usually puts a logo but very much in the style of the period.

Thanks! I see what you are saying. That helps me out when I am trying these out with other materials in photoshop. #90 has all the right elements in there, but it's just not my favorite. I want it to be, if that makes sense. Maybe the graphic needs to be tried out with another take on the text portion. I love the text, I love the graphic... maybe I don't love them together and that is why I am so confused. :)

Wow, you are making this hard. #294 is striking. I am going to have to start involving more people to help me out here. You've put together several logos that I think I could build a brand around, and with such a skilled use of color. Thanks a lot, those gradients were what was bothering me. :)

#296 is definitely the best one of that style (several people have tried it out.)

Thank you! I've been trying to approach these logos with the feel of abstract art - not just the art of the logo, but hang-on-the-wall abstract art. Your comment early on, "This logo needs to be worthy of national and international press. This company will very likely be featured in major publications..." got me thinking that way. What would impress ME in, say, an Architectural Digest ad?

Tough decisions. After all our discussions over here, we have decided that while we love a lot of logos people have done, the graphic really should have to do with housing like #293 and #296. While I like #293 a lot, it still just doesn't resonate with me like some of your other logos (purely on the level of what I find attractive without thinking as much about how it meshes with the company.) I thought I'd at least let you know how those preferences are shaping up after looking at over 500 logos and deciding what themes work for the company and what don't. If I were going to go based on just the quality of the logo, and what I personally find attractive and that resonates with me, I think the image of the company might suffer. I wanted to let you know so that you could give it one more crack at this IF YOU WANT TO. You've done really outstanding work. Bravo and thanks!!

Well, I didn't get back to you before the judging started - but that's how it goes. You will have a tough time with this one. I don't envy you the process. Good luck!!!
