I like the use of the blue colour so far.

Remember: this product claims to be *disruptive*, so complementing with red or orange detail might work.

The product differentiates itself from the competition by focusing on MOTIVATION TO LEARN.

Just thought that this info might be useful to someone.

By the way, Lykio is the ancient greek word for "Academy".

Not many people know that ;-)

Did you guys notice that the "IO" in Lykio can almost look like number 10?

The product evaluates users (as any learning environment would do). 10 might be the maximum grade they can receive.

Just an idea.

"Lykio" can be pronounced "Lee - kee - o" or "Like - e - o".

I'm just contributing ideas as they come to me:

Back to the ancient greek origins of the word; the "L" in ancient greek is "Λ", i.e. an upside-down "V".

The corresponding lower-case letter is "λ". You might recall the "λ" in the game Half-Life. They used it mistakenly (but probably deliberately) as an "A".

Might give you guys some ideas.

So far we've used blue and red, and it's looked great.

I'd welcome combinations of blue with other colours, too, e.g. various shades of green or orange.

Thanks, all!

Some great designs coming in.

I'll be away from the computer for a few hours, but I look forward to rejoining you all later.

Here's the product's TENTATIVE elevator pitch:

LYKIO uses principles from educational psychology (motivation theory) to push trainers and trainees into making corporate learning part of their day-to-day routine. LYKIO facilitates immediate and effective sharing of corporate knowledge. LYKIO is loaded with unique gamification features that make content-building and content-sharing fun. LYKIO is easy to use. It is a cloud-based solution.

Thanks, all.

There are some great designs coming in, thanks all.

Looking forward to more ideas that juice out the key selling point of MOTIVATION TO LEARN.

Remember we're selling to CORPORATE TRAINING CENTERS, not schools.

Thanks again!!

Great ideas all-round. I'm impressed with the quality of work coming in!

As the evening draws on, I'm reading up on the psychology of colour. I left the choice up to you guys initially, and all of you got it right -- dark blue is the thing.

Details of red are very welcome, as this is a highly ambitious product that aims to change the way things are done -- and one that we feel extremely passionate about.

Many thanks, everyone.

Hi again everyone,

If you want to start having more fun with fonts, I'm all for it!

Thanks for all your work.

Wow! Creative juice overflowing!

I'm honoured by everyone's attention, and I'm really glad I found LT!

Designs seem to have taken a certain path towards simplicity, which I love. But I hope this won't limit everyone's imagination, as I remain wide open to other approaches.

Thanks, all.

Would anyone like to play with a red line separating LYK from IO?

Everyone, thanks for your hard work so far.

Throughout the contest, I will keep trying to take us to different directions. I hope you guys don't mind!

Does anybody think a font called "Electromagnetic Lung Regular" is interesting? Here's a direct link to it: http://www.dafont.com/search.php?text=Lykio&af=on&psize=l&q=electromagnetic

Thank you!

Dear all,

I'd like to thank you for your contributions so far. It's been amazing, frankly. I was hoping LT would give me options, but I didn't expect *SO* many. I feel like we're going in great directions.

It's 1:17 am here, and I've got an early start tomorrow. I'll log in first thing in the morning, hoping to see more exciting submissions.

Good night!

Good morning everyone,

We're looking good on the submissions -- many thanks to everyone.

There are a lot of great logos out there, some of them I haven't had time to rank yet. I've received some interesting logos that play around with the "O". Great! Let's keep the ideas coming, feel free to play with all and any letters in Lykio.

Many thanks again!

Excellent designs keep coming in -- many thanks to everyone.

I'd like to share an idea: would you like to play with the "L" or with its ancient greek equivalent "Λ"? Either could become the FOCUS of the logo (with or without the rest of the word).

Quick reminder of keywords: great learning results motivation, easy to use

Thank you!

Some very strong contenders in the top-10 right now, but I still believe there is room for new ideas and concepts that change the way this contest is going.

Keeping my fingers crossed for something ground-breaking!

Keywords: great learning results, motivation, easy to use

Thanks, all!

Hi again guys,

More on this idea which I posted earlier.

An idea would be to play with the lower-case greek equivalent of L, i.e. "λ".

The game Half Life did this in their logo, although they mistakenly used it as an "A" (but maybe the mistake was deliberate.

Thanks, all!

Hello everyone,

I'm amazed by the huge response to our project, and I'd like to extend our thanks to everyone once again.

As stakeholders are looking at the designs, they come up with various ideas and requests. One thing we'd like to see is approaches using much LIGHTER SHADES OF BLUE -- in the hue of Skype, Microsoft, or even Internet Explorer.

Thank you for your continuing effort!

Dear all,

Amazing work so far!

In about 10 hours from now I'll be sharing my top-10 with stakeholders. They might have new ideas that take our work to a new direction. But between now and then, I'm sure there'll be new ideas from you guys, too.

Here's a keyword that I don't feel has been sufficiently explored: DISRUPTIVE

Thank you all, and goodnight!

Hi all,

These might be interesting fonts to play with:

Don't let it limit you. Feel free to try other stuff, too.

Everyone,

I'm seeing a few entries in light shades of green. They do convey a feeling of freshness. Try it out, if you like. I wouldn't mind slightly darker shades of green, too.

Thanks, all, for your brilliant effort so far!

Hi all,

Just a quick note to thank everyone for their good work so far, and for the massive participation in this project.

We're over the half-way mark now, but everything is far from decided. There are stakeholders who would enjoy new ideas, so please feel free to play with fonts, colours and concepts.

Quick reminder of keywords: disruptive, motivation, ease of use, corporate training.

Many thanks again -- I look forward to checking back later and seeing new creative and imaginative proposals!

Many thanks to everyone for their efforts so far!

It's only a couple of hours until the end of phase 1 now, but I thought I'd share a thought expressed by one of the stakeholders. This might be a good opportunity for designers that aren't currently in the top places to bring about a late change!

As you have noticed, many of our highly-ranked logos contain an element that can be used as an icon inside the platform, e.g. a speech bubble or an arrow.

One of the features of the platform is what we call The Streak. The Streak is a counter that monitors how many days you've been active in a row. 'Being active' means logging in and completing a mini course, or submitting a learning object for approval, or writing a new article, that sort of thing. When the user logs in day after day, their Streak counter increases. If it reaches 7, the user gets awarded a bonus 5,000 XP points.

You can see how The Streak is represented now, in the screenshots I have attached to the brief. This can easily change, ESPECIALLY if we get some more great logo ideas that have the symbol of The Streak inside them.

Apologies for sharing this so late in the day, but perhaps better late than never!

Many thanks again, everyone.

Dear all,

Several of you have asked me about exactly which icon I'm referring to when I mention The Streak.

In the mock-ups that I attached to the brief, the Streak counter can be seen immediately next to the star that shows the user's level (in this case, 2). It's a circle with 4 parts and a star in the middle, but now that we're increasing the goal streak to 7 daily log-ins, it will change to a circle with 6 parts and a star in the middle.

HOWEVER, we're perfectly happy to change that element. See www.duolingo.com for another approach to streak visualization: a little red flame with a number in the center.

We're also open to any other ideas. But this is a logo contest, not a contest for finding a streak icon :)

Nevertheless, if something in your designs inspires us, we might use it in the platform as a streak counter, too.

Many thanks again!

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your continuing hard work. I admire your creativity.

An idea from one of the stakeholders might change the play here!

We would now welcome proposals that focus on the concept of LYK.IO (lyk.io), as it is a domain that we own and might end up using for this product.

Thanks again, everyone.

Christos

P.S. Do feel free to ask me for more details about any requests / ideas I post here!
