What We Do
Little Elm Friends of the Library supports our local public library through fund raisers, volunteerism, and advocacy.
Industry
Non-Profit
Color Preferences
Our community is on the lake, so we are thinking aqua blue, green, and white as colors. However, we are flexible if some variation is more artistic or aesthetic.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Our primary vision is that the logo make people think of the library, so something like a figure reading a book would be a possible suggestion. If possible as a background or secondary concept, include something related to our lake (water, sailboat, etc.) We don't want to overcome the logo with complexity, though. Our organization's name on the logo is best, around the illustration perimeter we assume is optimal, but we are flexible on positioning. We will additionally be using the logo with embroidery, such as on book bags.

Interesting designs so far, but still looking. Some notes:
#1 We're probably going to be more attracted by a lake/sailboat concept than a tree, though I understand the reference to Little Elm. You might be able to convince us otherwise with a living tree, but can't guarantee it. We're probably going to shy away from red. Don't give up!
#2 Same as #1 on the red. Someone mentioned the book pages seemed a little edgy rather rounded/curved which might be more aesthetic.
#3 Very artistic and clean. Interesting concept with the book/sailboat hybrid. All three of us had the same conclusion that someone would have to look at it for several seconds to figure out the intention, though. One mentioned the lettering on second line is too small, but not sure if alignment would suit larger font there. I like the colors. Is there a way to make the book aspect more apparent?
#4 Might be a good variation for letterhead or light apparel, but in most cases background may be too dark.

Thanks!

Just some general notes to designers:
1) Local residents tend to identify more with our lake than the tree in our town's name. Probably seems weird to outsiders, but the name is just a name in our case. We tend to see a variety of lake, sailboat, and anchor icons around here. Obviously for us, the book/library aspect is still primary. :)
2) While we are non-profit, we're not generally thought of as a charitable/mercy type organization. It's more of a community support role, since we primarily do fund raising, volunteering, and advocacy for our public library.
3) Uncertain how specifically this will affect the complexity/resolution, but one of the projects we will be using the new logo for is embroidered book bags.

Thanks for the all the submissions so far!

More great designs coming in! We've had a request from one of the committee members that some of the next designs perhaps use an anchor (sailboat size) as a secondary image to the book. The anchor is one of the local icons for our community. I think it's safe to say the tree variation is probably not going to be as popular, since people around here don't really identify that with the name. Thanks!

Looks like we got a load of new submissions. We are working to update the rankings this weekend. Most likely, we will be extending the contest. Thanks!

Contest has been extended until Tuesday evening. Based on the committee's reviews, the anchor concept doesn't seem quite as popular. We will rate the newer designs by this evening. Thanks!
