Thank you all for a good start. I know I did not give much direction at the opening:)

Color scheme updated in brief.

The first submission#1 is pleasent in its simplicity and speaks to some insider knowledgde of the the jumping horse in sport. Its a great start.

In the #2 submission I llike the grass and the implied movement of the grass and the horse and riders hair. If we continue this way, the horse should be more stylised to the sport horse industry. I will try to get you some examples for inspiration later. The rider should be in competion attire and the horse may be jumping or appear to be in competition.
Submissions #3,#6,#7 n# 8 are too western style and generic, move to less brown on brown colors. #5 most appealing from this desgner I think due to balance of logo and font.

Again thank you all...I will apply more input later today:)

see photos of the facility at www.thepaddockla.net

this is not my business website....that is currently down for a redo. I share this facility with other training business'

We are very close to the heart of Los Angeles right off the LA River, adjacent to Griffith Park. This is a very urban area.

Some color preferences are black/white with shades of grey and small amount of red for highlight. Black and tan/taupe w white. Black/tan with red(towards orange) for highlights.

For those desgners without equine industry experience.....there does not necessarily need to be a horse in the logo.

I would like to see some LS intials logos. I am attacted to circlular logos....ie starbucks etc. Simple hi contrast logo that will be seen on horse equipment ie saddle pads, blankets, shirts, and jackets. Branding at competitions... if a horse or rider walks by...I would like a logo that is easy to see and immediately recognised as one of our horses or team members. This logo would be embroidered on equipment and apparel.

Thank you to all submissions.

Hello designers,

individual submission feedback:

#9 horse and rider/jockey look a bit unfriendly/forbidding. I have concerns that it will also be to hard to reproduce on fabric/apparel.

#12 and 13...style of horse going the right direction. I find the stars distracting. Can you remove them and play with color and sophistication level. #14 I like the simplicity, and elegance.

#15 I like the quality of the horse sillouette. accurate to the jumper industry. I like the boldness and the black and white contrast. The swag at the bottom that completes the oval is distracting....not sure how to articulate. Without the swag, would the lack of a complete oval look funny??

#16 A bit too generic...a stylized horse head is OK, but needs to be more elegant or sophisticated. Work with a change in color as referenced above. Thanks for your effort:)

Thank you again designers....As i survey your work on this and other tournys, I appreciate your talent!

Hello Designers,

There are some great ideas coming out....but please submit some lettermark and emblem styles also.

I hope that the long duration I have selected with allow more designers to participate. Dont be afraid to submit without a horse in the logo.

I would like to see some out of the box and non traditional submissions:)

I have figured out how to communicate with individuals( I am a little slow on the uptake:)) So I will post here less, but I will try to rank often.

Mondays are my day off and I can give a lot of attention to the process.I may have busy days that I will not be able to check in or rank...so dont panic:) Its hard to do anything technical from the back of a horse.

I can see the need perhaps for two logos...one linear and one circular or boxed....please submit both if you have ideas.

There is a website coming...so a .com logo would be useful also. domain names are LincourtStables.com and gone2horses.com

Best of luck to you all:)

ps...moderator...is this appropriate instructions? It occurs to me that I should have more than one tournament?

from past experience I find that more designers participate in the final 1-3 days. Probably so they don't have to go through the whole tweaking process.

Hello Designers,

With the contest ending basically on the Holiday....my oversight. Does anyone think that I should extend the time, so anyone who wants to not work on the 4th would not feel any pressure.

Please let me know what you think.

Many Thanks to all you designers that have participated. So much talent and I have leaned a lot in the process.

I apologise to anyone that did not get enough feedback. But I appreciate everyone's interest and ideas, whether or not I was able to give individual comments.

I now have about 12 top logos that I really need to give some thought to and apply as much time to the judging phase as possible.

I believe that only the top ranked logo designer can make revisions, or submissions. So I will rotate to top rank logo so that everyone has an opportunity to make revisions. I think this judging phase will take most of the 7 days.

I also will have focus group give input, as I am having trouble keeping perspective and settling on a direction.

I find that it takes me long time to articulate and sift through my thoughts. I really appreciate some of the communications and helpful emails that designers have taken the time to provide for me!

Thank you again for your patience and efforts and talent!

Patricia,

I know you've gotten a good amount of information already, but I thought it might help to provide you with this link as it offers some good information about why the ranking of entries is important. You are already doing quite a bit of that so you might have read the initial part of this post already and if not, it provides a little more information on the judging process.

Thank you redesigns...I have read this forum post and it helped a bunch. Actually I have gone back and read it a couple of times and the posts along with it.

This is such a great community of people. I have really enjoyed the process and am sad that I cannot have more than one winner.

I have such a great resource now and I am hooked on LT.

KUDOS TO ALL:)
