It's an interesting approach. I am not a fan of the color scheme in #118... it reminds me of ice. I much prefer the flatter color scheme of #111. The 'folded paper' approach is clever, and appeals to my love of the Japanese aesthetic. I'm a little worried that this would not work well when reduced in size. I'd be curious as to how you see this being rendered as a favicon. The 'fold' lines maybe a little too thin.
I'm also not fond of the font. I like the font in #17 much better.
Just in case you missed the note, I'm looking for a fairly minimalist icon that can also be used as a watermark on my photos. Lastly, I'd like the icon to work in very small 16x16 'favicon' format for my web site.
thanks for your great feedback. I have slightly simplified the mark to allow for a favicon creation. I have linked below to an example of a favicon version to show you that a quick generator can create one that's easily distinguishable. I do quite a bit of web design so i am certain you shouldn't have issues shrinking this mark.
I don't think that it works as well with the graphic portion so large... I liked the proportions of your original attempt. The favicon you linked to was unrelated to this design. :-(
My apologies. I will try re-link to another version for you. I will also resubmit a version with the same proportions but with a more solid look to allow for even simpler shrinking. Sorry for the broken link and thanks again for the great feedback.
here is a link to an image of an example favicon i quickly whipped up. I cannot place it on the logo unfirtunately as it is against LT rules to. Let me know if the link doesn't work but it should. Some of your top pics will likely have more issues being converted as they don't contain enough of a contrast in color. I will gladly supply you with the favicon.ico file should you ultimately choose my design. :)
Oh, you're right that does work, though I would probably put it as charcoal gray on white. But I can see that it fits, thanks.
I think you misunderstood my comments. I don't think that #216 is any different from #111... just bigger. I'm looking for a version where the 'fold lines' are a little more pronounced, perhaps with subtle shading.
I would also be interested in seeing variations of this logo, if you feel like playing around with it a little. But I'm really liking it.
Oh, one more thing in case you missed it earlier. I'm not liking the font very much. I tend to like the Trebuchet MS font that some entries have used (such as the logo in #17), and I'm curious as to whether you think this logo would work with a similar very minimal font.
as it happens that's one of my top 10 fonts so I will definitely drive it into the design (should fit perfectly). I will submit a variation with the shadows pronounced and some design variations. I have a feeling though this one wont benefit from too much change. Thanks for getting back to me, its a pleasure to actually have some 2 way with a CH.
I think #111 is still the strongest of the bunch. Can you submit a version with the font from #220? The stronger shadows don't work, as you may have expected they wouldn't.
A designer friend of mine suggested using a font that implies the 'origami' (maybe something japanesque), or that is hand-written, to emphasize 'craft'.
Agreed on the shadows. It has taken me some time but I have prepared 11 different variations of font for you (some custom) as well as the trebuchet version.I personally like your first choice but some of the oriental style fonts stand out really well. Hope you like them.
HAHA yeah i am glad you agree and it was no trouble. I would rather try and have you be happy that you dont want it then wonder. Let me know if you want any font adjustments/layout changes on your current picks. (looks really nice blown up)
After having a play i was able to get a really cool result. This wont be as legible on your favicon but im loving the logo. The reality is that favicons rarely look great and aren't overly important in the scheme of things. It should still work just not as clear as before.
I think it would work better if you kept the 'tail' from #302, perhaps trying a variation where it was thinner. I'm not sure, however, that I do like the 'coyote' variation.... the original may still be better.
I think it does detract. I'm back to the original. Honestly, it's currently a toss-up between this design and my current #2 selection... I am not sure which direction I'll go.
Sure that's not a worry. Well good luck with the judging then. Obviously am biased but my design does play to more aspects of the name. Thanks for making it a pleasure so far Ron. Fingers crossed.
Blink, a designer friend suggested a little shading towards the bottom of the figure to make it look more 'paper-like'. Not sure what she meant by that, but wanted to feed that back to you. The shading you've done in the past for the 'folds' has killed the subtlety of the design, so she may be wrong on this, but I wanted to put it out there.
No worries Ron. I have created a few variations for you. One i have defined the shadows slightly, ,the other I have created an entirely new crisp version of the mark. Both are in the layout you have as your preference and the last is a simple tweak on the second. Hope you like em.
