LandRoverGeeks.comLogo Design Contest

just brainstorming...:

this is for a community portal site for Land Rover enthusiasts... not just the hard core folks but the more casual (and more numerous) Land Rover lovers too.

1. Site will actually be titled Rover Geeks, but for SEO reasons, the site will use landrovergeeks.com as the domain name. I would not mind seeing designs for both, but am leaning towards the logo just saying Rover Geeks.

2. Competing sites would be like www.landroverforums.com, http://www.landroverworld.org/, http://www.landroversonly.com/, etc. They all tend to make a play off of Land Rovers' mark. That would be one possibility... and working with those greens and browns is reminiscent of the adventure part of Land Rover's draw... but I would love to also see something that is not doing that since everyone else is doing that.

3. Maybe since Land Rover is British, some colors from the British Union Jack? which would be nicely patriotic for the US market too?

I like the idea of having the vehicle in the logo in #1. I do not know if it is self-evident in that one though that the vehicle is wearing geek glasses - shape of glasses is wrong?

I would rank #1 and #6 as being equally my favorites of the 6 here.

I think the lettering in number one is a little hard to read.

I hate having to rank and comment, because i do not like being critical, all of them are way nicer than anything I could produce, but I guess there is no way around it.

I really like #13. Pro but still fun, and totally catches the appeal to 4x4 enthusiast. Love how it is like rock crawling over the lettering. and love the geeky but cool dudes driving. Very brandable, perhaps I could have more work done in the future to get additional images of them say changing a tire, looking under the hood, etc? clean lines and friendliness should still make it appeal to the more casual land rover fan who might never go offroad, but who likes to know that they can. Sort of curious how it might look with different types of lettering..

Overall, I am rather impressed with most all the designs. You creative people amaze me with your abilities.

I like #9 too, although Land Rover needs to be 2 words unless everything is run together as a domain name. I think doing the dot com inside the land rover shaped oval logo is extremely clever and cool.

On number 6, what do you think of adding the stereotypical white geek repair tape to the middle of the glasses?

I am hoping that I can purchase some of the other designs besides whichever one wins for tshirts down the line so please designers do not trash them off your computers when the contest ends, as I will be trying to contact you, need to check with logotournament on their policies on that.

Actually I guess I love the lettering just as it is on #13, except maybe the .com part just slightly larger. I can see how it should not be larger because then it would take the emphasis off geeks. and that emphasis and uplift on geeks is very important. but at the same time the .com is unreadable, but I guess the mind would automatically know that is what it says as someone glances over it.

No new entries? Bump. Just adding this comment mainly so that it keeps my contest in the mix. I am looking for more than just a logo winner, as I want to buy additional designs for tshirts. Not sure how that will work, I want to stay within whatever logotournaments policies are, but please submit designs even that might be more appropriate for tshirts than logos in addition to logo designs, as I would like to contact people to buy additional designs.
