La Ruche Du Bois is an on-line shop.
But, it's more than a shop, it's a place where sawmills and wooden-products buyers can meet, at last.
Today, there are on average 5 levels of intermediaries between the sawmills and the end-users.
Thanks to the Internet, we now have the means to overcome issues like logistics that made it impossible for sawmills to sell straight in the market, and go around the DIY distribution networks and the like.

The logo must convey these info, and above all the very fact that it's "direct from the sawmill" (what the slogan says).
It should show that it's about connecting ends: this website will collect many small orders and organise this network a bit like featured in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sVNSOkiH29o

So, the logo should also communicate dynamism & community

Entry #2 -
Nice, I like the pictoral mark & the effect of the circle. Nice colours, well balanced.
The slogan might be a bit too discrete. And, as I just added, some more "dynamism" and "community" would be welcome

the saw is too strong, I'm no big fan. entry #2 still has the nicest colours balance. the 3 little people will make french think of a telephone operator (target is French people)

entry #6 is nice 'cause it can fit on top of all pages of the web shop. Maybe some mix of entries #2 and #6 with somehow some more dynamism and connectivity would be perfect...

Please note the logo will be sized 800 pix wide times 100 pix high on the website. So, I need something flat. Please opt for white backgrounds.

The "beehive" depicts a concept of community of buyers that group their purchases in order to buy directly from the mill.

Next to my brand name and slogan, I want a symbol that :

-1 - Is related to the wood, so that my target audience is not confused and knows this is about buying wood.
- 2 - Is a conveyer of the "beehive" concept, translating the community, dynamism, connection, group purchases, that "beehive" means here

Hi ! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked in the top 10. We like to earn points.

~~ NOTE: While in JUDGING mode, the designer ranked in 1st can still submit revisions.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

I don't want to hurt anyone,

For the sake of efficiency,

Considering all the parameters of this particular contest and the styles of all of your logos,

I will clarify my top 2 designers, so that no one looses time, for I believe I'll eventually opt for one of them:

studio 42 and jjbq are the ones I'd like to focus on for the time left.

Thank you all very much for your time and effort. I hope to collaborate some day with each one of you guys.

Best Regards
