Our Ideas & Additional Information
I like a clean look to logos - not complex. With having two names (Kilkenny Valenta) I like professional, but I still want creativity and even to have some fun with it. Clean doesn't mean boring. I really am looking for creativity for me to really dial in what I'm looking for.

It'd be great if you could come up with a "KV" in the logo, but it's not necessary. Please don't get stuck in having to include it. The name is important obviously, but the "KV" portion is not as much. I'm open to other "icons" or "images" to create emotion, etc.

Try different things to help give me a better direction to help all of you.

Thank you all for your time!

Again, I feel like the "KV" may be a distraction on this. I don't want it to be. I want the creativity to go into the whole logo and not just into the two letters. I really like a picture, but it doesn't have to be the two letters of our firm. We're off to a great start. Thanks everyone for your time! I really, really appreciate you so much.

Nice work everybody! Good entries - great day yesterday! Thanks so much. Particularly the top 7 right now are looking pretty good - I'm getting excited!

Edwin, I gotta say - that "KV" block is strong. Very creative - I like it. I feel like the "KV" thing was getting in the way with other entries, but not with that one. Well done.

I liked some of Doksan's entries, but I didn't like the font at all - just a tip.

Genesis, I do like your "KV" as well. Creative and clean - great job.

Again, you've all been great. Thank you so much for all your time and efforts!

I think I may like the two names different fonts and/or different colors. Not sure, but maybe some of you could experiment with that? Genesis did a color change on entries #2 , #11 and #12. Maybe try distinct font changes as well? Again, I'm not sure, just thinking.

Also, I'm realizing I like the "tighter" look. Rather than large and spread out. I know with the "Kilkenny Valenta" name, it's tough Genesis again did it on #11 and #12 pretty good. I don't know if it's possible, but I'm just sharing my thoughts.

Good stuff coming in - thanks everyone!

I'm going out of town for this weekend without computer access, so I had to extend the contest. I'm really, really sorry. Thanks for understaning and for continuing submitting. I'll be back on Monday. Thank you everyone!

I need some help here on how I need to move some of these new logos. I want to do what is best for you guys and statistcs, but I want to make it accurate as well. If a logo gets submitted that has slightly different variations, but are numerous submissions, should I put most of them in my "not interested" ranking or should I rank them at the bottom? I'm confused on how I should rank numerous entries. I don't want to put them in a "non-interested" column if that hurts you designers unless I'm truly not interested in it.

Would a few of you respond to me on how this is best to handle?

Thanks,
Steve

Hmm, I see your predicament. I've seen it done where during the contest all the entries were ranked as the contest holder liked them, say they liked a design by one designer, one by another with three variations, then the variations of the first entrant etc (if that makes sense, basically just in order of how the CH liked them the best, even with multiple variations up the top).
Then when the contest ended (there's a 7 max day period of judging), just their favorite variation was kept of each, with the rest marked as not interested, and ranked accordingly. If there are different concept ideas (as opposed to variations of one concept) from the same designer you like that all get ranked, I don't see a problem with that personally.
This seemed fair enough to me. I don't know, it's tricky. Other people may have other or better ideas.

Based on the following discussion/forum comments, I've decided to follow this designers suggestion. If anybody has any opinions as why this is not best, please let me know.

"Feel free to rank your contest in whatever way you wish during the "accepting entries" stage, but keep in mind that some designers will be scared off if they see only one or two different designers in the top 10. The best way to do it is choose your current favorite version of each concept and rank them accordingly, while ranking all other versions of that logo much lower down. For example, in a contest I'm currently in i have the first rank, and about 20 other versions of the same logo which are ranked 60th+."

https://logotournament.com/forum/general_discussion/914

I'm going to not put the same logo (with variations) in my top ten. I wanted to make that clear so some people didn't think that I moved some of thier logos because I didn't like it.

Also, one question for you all: Beyond the top ten rankings, does it matter if the logo is left "not ranked" or better to have ranked "60th"?

Please advise.

Thanks, Steve

Okay, I ended up just ranking all of the ones I liked - even if it put some of them way down the list. I ended up "grouping" them together in the same order as I have my top 10.

I hope that works well for you all. I want what's best for your points and stats.

Thank you again.

I need some help:

What more feedback can I give you all?
How am I doing with feedback? Am I doing it enough?
What else can I do?

I'm willing to help.

If anybody has time or is willing - I'm open to seeing just a "name logo." Like FedEX or Yamaha, etc. No picture or logo, just the name as the logo. I'm open to seeing something done up creatively that way.

****Just a heads up*****

I want to let everyone know, this contest is far from over. To be honest, any of the top 9 could win. It really could go any way. My business partner hasn't review these much at all - so after he does, it could shake up the final grading for sure. New submissions may do well also in light of him reviewing it as well.

I will have him review it when he gets back in town Monday. I suspect we will have final judgement on Monday or Tuesday. You have all been so great to work with. I wish I could pick more than one!!

Thanks.

Please consider ranking all entries...this helps the designers down the line. It is a secondary reward for the work done. Thanks.

This is my question. Ranking, even past the top 10, still benefits the designer? I don't want to not rank any that would benefit you all. I will no question rank all of them that I liked as long as this helps you guys. Please somebody let me know.

we do receive points in the rankings for each design that has a number rank at the end of a contest. if you provide deeper rankings in the contest, more designers will receive points in the standings. even the 100th ranked design is awarded a point on the scoreboard. every little bit helps. the disappointing contests are those where only a handful of designers (or worse yet, only one) receive rankings 1-10 and nobody else is recognized.

it may not be much, but it does offer us the slightest reward for the efforts we put in. the higher our rankings among our peers, the more likely we are to be recognized by a potential client glancing through portfolios.
