John HostLogo Design Contest

I would like projects with others colors. The writing would be more complex, with a little more curves. And I would be very interested by a picture with the name, for example a tiger, lion, or panther, etc, perhaps just the head, and something very sober. Not necessarily an animal : it's just an idea, but something concrete, a real picture, not just letters. Another idea, very logical, but perhaps difficult, would be to find something with the real signification of the word "Host". Obviously something subtle : not just a door! ^^

For your inspiration, one of my favorites DJ logo is the logo of Tiesto. The idea of a animal seems to be interesting to me, but I'm not sure if I want them in the logo, or separately. The best would be, if you want to go in this direction, if I can have a version with the name and the picture together, and also separately.

I'm sorry that I do not have a clear idea of what I want. It's why I need lots of different projects. Unfortunately, so far, there is nothing that really convinced me even in the writing among the submitted projects.

Now I choose my 5 current favorites, but only ranks 1 and 2 are definitive. I still can change 3, 4, and 5 if I receive better ideas, and I do not receive so many proposals and suggestions of these designers.

Then go in your pencils! ;-)

I see the efforts of (almost) everybody, so I increase the prize to $350.

I hope everybody will find the courage to continue to fight for the victory. The battle is very very strong…I think everyone can still win among my 5 favorites, and even perhaps among the others, if I receive new good projects.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION - INFO TRES IMPORTANTE

First in english, for the graphic designers of the competition - ensuite en français, pour mes amis qui me conseillent

First of all I very want to thank everybody, in the first place, and before any, the graphic designers, who make an exceptional, high-quality work, secondly my numerous friends, who give me full of opinion and advice, all more interesting some than the others.

Then I wish to explain my classification(ranking):

- green (rank 4) had for a long time the favorite logo of the public, but convinced me as for myself never, even if I find the very well made logo of origin. Unfortunately that did not correspond to me, and there was no concept.
- gee.signator (rank 5) is the first one to have suggested me the idea of an animal, made a great deal of efforts, and I a little made friends with him during our exchanges of e-mails: I owed him a place in the " Top" 5. Unfortunately, at the moment, his global logo is far below the others.
- Dapc79 (rank 3) and the first one to have had the idea of the panther, and the excellent idea of the insertion in the text.
- Rudbutler (rank 2) has a design which always has me not bad more, and which pleases the Electro public a lot generally, and found a better idea of insertion of the panther.
- Nalapraja (rank 1) had always also a logo which pleases a lot of people (especially to the girls! ^^), and the concept of eyes is the best, the one on which we can best build for the continuation. Besides the logo is constantly perfected, thus it left well to win the tournament.

Now why the panther (many ask themself the question) :

- The panther is one of animals who makes most reference in the night. It is the predator who hides in the shadow to watch and catch its preys (little as the DJ who hides at night, behind his decks, "to devour" the clubbers! ^^). And that is so great well with "Host": night host = panther = DJ!
- It is an excellent concept to imagine visual effects on screen, caps, tattoos, T-shirts, masks, and even beautiful dancers sexy disguised as panthers! ;-)
- Finally all this is great well with the music which I play in club, and which I am creating: soft, mysterious, and rather violent, at the same time.

So…now I think with these elements, you know at the moment exactly what I look for, and why I look for that.

The final winner will be the one who will have found:

- The most beautiful panther
- The best integration of the panther in the logo (I hold something very subtle, not a big panther drawn next to the logo, as you certainly still understood)
- The best font
- And ESPECIALLY: the best GLOBAL CONCEPT, the one that I can best exploit to develop my new image of DJ, and (why not), start really a big career. ;-)

Tout d'abord je tiens à remercier tout le monde, premièrement, et avant tout, les graphistes, qui font un travail exceptionnel, de grande qualité, deuxièmement mes nombreux amis, qui me donnent plein d'avis et de conseils, tous plus intéressants les uns que les autres.

Ensuite je souhaite expliquer mon classement :

- green (rank 4) a eu pendant longtemps le logo préféré du public, mais ne m'a perso jamais convaincu, même si je trouve le logo d'origine très bien fait. Malheureusement ça ne me correspondait pas, et il n'y avait pas de concept.
- dee.signator (rank 5) est le premier à m'avoir suggéré l'idée d'un animal, a fait énormément d'efforts, et je me suis un peu lié d'amitié avec lui durant nos échanges de mails : je lui devais une place dans le "Top 5". Malheureusement, à l'heure actuelle, son logo global est bien en dessous des autres.
- dapc79 (rank 3) et le premier à avoir eu l'idée de la panthère, et l'idée excellente de l'insertion dans le texte.
- Rudbutler (rank 2) a un design qui m'a toujours pas mal plus, et qui plait beaucoup au public Electro en général, et a trouvé une meilleure idée d'insertion de la panthère.
- nalapraja (rank 1) a toujours aussi eu un logo qui plait à beaucoup de monde (surtout aux filles! ^^), et le concept des yeux est le meilleur, celui sur lequel on peut le mieux construire pour la suite. En plus le logo est constamment perfectionné, donc il est bien parti pour gagner le tournoi.

Maintenant pourquoi la panthère (beaucoup se posent la question) :

- La panthère est un des animaux qui fait le plus référence à la nuit. C'est un prédateur qui se cache dans l'ombre pour guetter et attraper ses proies (un peu comme le DJ qui se cache dans la nuit, derrière ses platines, pour "dévorer" les clubbers! ^^). Et ça va aussi super bien avec "Host" : Hôte de la nuit = panthère = DJ!
- C'est un excellent concept pour imaginer des effets visuels sur écran, des casquettes, tatouages, tee-shirts, des masques, et même de belles danseuses sexy déguisées en panthères! ;-)
- Enfin tout cela va super bien avec la musique que je joue en club, et que je suis en train de créer : douce, mystérieuse, et quand même assez violente, en même temps.

Voilà…je crois qu'avec ces éléments, vous savez à présent exactement ce que je recherche, et pourquoi je recherche ça.

Le vainqueur final sera celui qui aura trouvé :

- La plus belle panthère
- La meilleure intégration de la panthère dans le logo (je tiens à quelque chose de très subtil, pas une grosse panthère dessinée à côté du logo, comme vous avez pu certainement le comprendre)
- La meilleure font
- Et SURTOUT : le meilleur CONCEPT GLOBAL, celui que je pourrai le mieux exploiter pour développer ma nouvelle image de DJ, et (pourquoi pas), démarrer véritablement une grande carrière. ;-)
