Congrats on holding down the top spot as the last-minute designers weigh in! I have two questions about your design.

1) how would it look on a white background? My site will be black but would it be possible to get a white version for letterhead? An associate mentioned this to me last night and I felt dumb for not considering it. Do I have to choose one form of this or if I go with your logo as the winner are you able to provide this "negative" as well? (Don't mean to be asking too much...again, I'm a n00b).

2) the blue is a little teal-ish to me. Could you go maybe a shade or two darker? I'm thinking "mac desktop blue"...if you get my drift.

Again, thanks for an excellent design. I love the shadow, really puts it over the top.

Finally, everyone wants to know why the "U" is blue. I like it but everyone always asks why "I" did that :)

You're not asking too much I appreciate the input. After the contest you're welcome to all the versions of the logo you'd like. I'd be happy to do a black and a white background and horizontal compositions for you.
I'll blue up the blue as well.

As far as the blue "U" , it ended up to be perfectly centered with the icon. It almost felt like a base for the mic.
I also thought it reflected the J shapes of JJ like a mirror image of the letter "J".
If you would like to see a version without it I'd be happy to do that also.

On another note #75 #76 are really just revisions to my design. I know they have the elements that you requested but they are put together almost identically to my design except for the background.
It's an ongoing challenge on this site to keep other designers from copying your concepts.
It can be very frustrating.
