I couldn't help but notice you logged in earlier, but did not rank any designs, mine or otherwise. May I ask what you think of them? If you like them or not? I'd really like to design something for you that you like. If you don't like my designs, for whatever reason, just let me know that too, and I'll find suitable alternatives for you.
I really like what you have done. I have uploaded a picture of the building the restaurant is in. The building has Hayden Block on it. Maybe try a version with a similar font to the building. Thanks!
I have to admit -- I really loved your idea of trying to get the font to be the same as the one used on the building. I've been working it into the design and seeing how it looks....and I have to be honest: it really doesn't work as well as I'd hoped. I'm thinking it's for a couple reasons: the reason the design works so well in its current state is because it contains a combination of traditional and modern styles. It's a blend. With the older font, it makes the design too "heavy"...knocks out the modern elements that are used in this blending...and it loses its balance.
I know you want to appeal to the hipster crowd, while also giving a nod to the traditional style that resonates in the building. The design, as it is now, does that well; it has modern and traditional fonts in it. And it has a pioneer spirit especially, with the handwritten font poised with the star (as in, the pioneers forged ahead, navigated by the stars...reached for the stars as well when they set off on their own....stars are used a lot in traditional signage back in the pioneer days too)....
So the design as it stands now does a good job of blending traditional and modern elements, which will appeal greatly to the demographic you're targeting. Adding anymore traditional elements throws off its balance, and removes its appeal. And with its "block" being expressed literally in its block design, it will also be a great tool with branding efforts. Will help people remember your tavern's name more effectively.
Wish your idea had worked out, so sorry it didn't. Hope you can continue to appreciate the logo and its value as it currently stands. If you have any other ideas, let me know. I'm always up for trying new directions. Have a great morning!
When it comes to discussing anything to be included in addition to a winning logo, I'm forbidden from providing details until the contest is complete. It could be misconstrued as I "gave you a deal so I could win" and that would not be good.
Here's how we could handle the situation best: -You choose a winning logo, one you like slightly more than the other color variations -I'll upload the files for that one winning logo for your approval -You approve the files, which releases the funds -Then we can talk about color variations, and how that would come about -Any color variations would be sent to you directly, outside of LT's upload system
