I'm really excited about this project - I admit to a history filled with all things Smiths. This concept borrows from some virtually unknown letters of Morrissey's, long before he was with The Smiths - the "guy" is a stylized adaptation of something he drew in one of those letters - and I thought there was a really great look to it. Typewriter font on one is meant to represent intelligent writing, the other font is borrowed from Moz's handwriting.
I'd love feedback - have a few other ideas, will submit as I get them worked out. Thank you for your consideration.
This concept uses a stylized image of a "Smiths-like" album cover - in one, the image hints at an LP, with spindle hole and vinyl. The other is a bit more straight-forward. In any case, colors can be changed, or would work well in black and white. Would love feedback! Thank you.
The theme of flowers runs throughout much of the music of 80-90's indie genre - the gladiolus, of course, being a favorite of Morrissey. I've drawn this one as a single stalk, perhaps left on the ground. I think much of the tunes of this sort tend to be "outsider" music, sadly, and that's what I'm trying to get at here. Maybe it represents unrequited love or being misunderstood - but certainly beautiful for the one who finds it. Who is the "Handsome Devil"? It could be the one from whom the flower came, or the one it was intended for. I think it can tell whatever story the viewer wants it to tell. Happy to adjust the design with your feedback.
