As soon as I saw the name I said, "Is this a Smiths reference?" Indeed it is. Awesome... I'm looking forward to participating! And listening to some of my favorite bands all the while.

Go Betweens, Up and Downs, Hummingbirds, Snout, Drop City, Regurgitator, just to name some.

Yeah it's totally a Smiths reference... the music back then was amazing, and while there is a lot of good music out now, we want a 'return to form' if you will, to a time when music really mattered.

The Stone Roses, Charlatans, Bluetones, dodgy, kula Shaker, The Cult, Blur, The Church, Falling Joys.

And people...
I don't think we have to be so literal about the devil in the logo too.

I agree. Great tunes from years back. There was a time I collected every single Smiths/Moz thing I could get a hold of. Anything on Factory Records... man, I miss those days!

Bluejet - you mentioned a few of my faves... The Church (I still buy everything they do), Falling Joys, Go Betweens, etc. (Ever hear Jack Frost?) I really dig some of the older Aussie stuff - Hoodoos, Beasts of Bourbon, Plug Uglies, Aussie Crawl. Fantastic stuff Down Under - there's a certain sound that I really like.

saw The Church last year at my local pub, great being able to walk from home to a gig like that.
and I live in a small town too.
Saw the Go Betweens there too just before Grant died.

I read something interesting concerning record labels....most designs are done in black and white to save on printing costs.

I pretty much understand that, my thought in ranking it so high was to encourage people to come up with something similar, as I really enjoy this design.
