Here are some logos that are appealing:

http://www.dianekane.com/about.asp
Like the line between the name and the circle. Like the circle (with a golfer or golf ball) that is thin and clean.
Like the shadowing under the circle. Don't care for the font.

http://www.daviddupuyphotography.com/
Like the font. Like the "photography" under the name. Like the idea of a golf icon between the name.

Hope that helps. Will keep looking for other examples.

Since we are a golf shopping site, what about creating a shopping cart from golf items. Here is an example of a green shopping site that fashioned a shopping cart from a branch and leafs ...

(we own the copyright on the Pristine Planet logo)

Would love to see what you guys come up with!

Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to submit logos. We truly appreciate your time and effort. Here is where we’re at on this end. There are 2 people “judging” the submission - one of us is in charge of the redesign and the other is the owner. Here are our thoughts:

We are looking for something unique that has a polished, exclusive feel that will make us stand out from the other golf sites. It’s tough to stand out with “another golf ball” or other cliché golf icons so we need something exciting and unique (otherwise we’d stick with our current golf ball design).

I personally like #94 the best because:

1. It conveys a polished, exclusive feel to me (between the flag and font). I immediately think of a country club or yacht club. Golfers generally like that type of feel and we are trying to separate ourselves from the fray by being a high end boutique shop.
2. I like the red flag because it ties into the red accents on the redesign (http://www.golfcircuit.com/main-CATHY.asp?man=1). And I think red catches people’s attention in a world otherwise dominated by blues and greens (which the owner likes). I like the blue name because it will complement the new site and change the main colors from green (on the current logo) and red to blue and red (much better in my opinion).
3. The owner would like to see a square golf flag since that is traditionally the standard shape for golf pins. As a non golfer I like the current shape.
4. We are both concerned that the flag may not be able to stand on its own for a logo and it may be to general to trademark. (The shopping cart on the Pristine Planet shopping cart has a trademark on just that icon because it is unique). We need a distinctive icon that we can use for an avatar on Facebook and twitter that will immediately identify Golf Circuit even if the name isn’t included (like the Nike swoosh).

The owner isn’t very excited about any of the designs. He wants a distinct icon that represents Golf, shopping and a high end website.

We were lucky enough to grab a few minutes of a friends time who is a retired advertising guru. He gave us some great feedback:

1. The name Golf Circuit initially conveys a playing circuit, a list of golf courses, etc. Ecommerce isn’t the first thing to come to mind when you hear or see the name. So with that said, he suggested we focus on a logo that conveys shopping - but doesn’t necessarily have to be constrained to a shopping cart. Anything that would immediately signify a golf pro shop.

2. All of the logos that he reviewed (as of 2/5) were vague – his initial response is that it doesn’t convey what Golf Circuit does which is sell golf products. The Pins, golf tees, balls, etc play more into the concept of being a list of tournaments to play or a list of country clubs, etc.

3. We discussed other highly recognizable logos in golf like TaylorMade and Titleist. The name is the logo. We all agreed that changing the focus of the design from and icon (like a ball, tee, flag, etc) and focusing on a creative font and initial “G” like the TaylorMade logo would be a good direction. That would give us the flexibility to use the “G” in a situation where space was limited like a Facebook or Twitter avatar and we could use the entire logo in all other situations. The font has to convey a very professional polished feel since that will be the logo. Here are some examples of the mentioned logos (or type Taylormade logo , Titleist logo , Nordstrom logo into Google image search).

http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=taylormade+logo&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=taylormade%2520logo&sc=6-14&sp=-1&sk=

http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=titleist+logo&qs=RQ&sk=RQ1&FORM=QBIR&pq=tiet%20logo&sc=8-9&sp=2&qs=RQ&sk=RQ1

http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=nordstrom+logo&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=nordstrom%2520logo&sc=5-14&sp=-1&sk=

In summary: The designs should convey e-commerce golf or the logo should be the name Golf Circuit with a unique “G” that can be used as a logo to represent the business.
