Godfather Pest Control, Inc.Logo Design Contest

I'll give some examples of what I'm looking for. Check out Trackside Coffee's tournament and look at the logos done by Grail, cristianci and Akerman. They are clever and classic and very nostalgic. They could have color or be very simplified. But the style harkens back to a different era. That's the feel I am going for with Godfather. I don't want to be reminded of the movie and I just can't have a logo that's similar to it. I know the name reminds us of the Godfather movie, but the logo doesn't have too. Thanks for all the work.

How are you doing ? hope you are doing great. As this contest is about to come to an end, and you will be chosing the best new logo for your company, i just wanted to have your attention to some important point that you might be aware of or might not. I hope i am not miss understood by pointing out this to you and that you understand.

When the contest ends and you have made your mind and desicion about the winner logo, the winner gets the 1st place, but the 2nd and 3rd place and going on forward, 4th, 5th, 6th , etc , each one or slot should be filled with a seperate designer and different concept you found second best, third best to follow etc.

This helps towards us designers ranking and also it is a way from you to show your appreciation to the hard effort and trails put from the beginning by one designer or appreciating a nice design concept put earlier by a designer that led to developing on right direction for others and you getting the best you could at the end.

It feels frasturating for other designers and pointless of giving all the top rankings for same winner designer, while those were just a small variations of the winning design and therefore the other places 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc are not filled with different designs from a different designer.

So i hope you understood my point i was just trying to point out to you here and all the best of luck in chosing your winner logo, there are really good ones out there.

I didn't have much time in the beginning to add comments, so i worked on that for you folks today. Even though I'm not really interested in many of the logos, I have ranked them for your sake as designers. Thank you all for your hard work. I hope my individual comments will move you in the right direction with this project.

Let me reiterate that I am looking for something nostalgic. We have been in business for over 25 years, so I am looking for the logo to reflect that. I'd like for my logo to make folks 'feel' like we have been their family pest control company for generations. It seems to me that most logos do not include an item from the service or product in the logo, i.e. Microsoft does not have a computer in the name; NBC does not have a t.v.; Volvo does not have a car. With that in mind, Godfather Pest Control does not have to have a sprayer or a bug in the logo. And I absolutely can not accept anything that is like the Godfather movie.

And one more thing which I think is really important - my company name is simply GODFATHER PEST CONTROL, INC. There is no 'The' in the name. Thanks folks. I'm grateful.

Ch you specifically mentioned in your brief that you want no relation to the Godfather films yet your top ranked designs depict a very "Godfather - gangster" figure.

Well, actually, the mafia theme is one thing - copying and modifying the movie's logo is another. Hey, if anyone can come up with something that works by all means let's see it. I want to be open to what your creative minds can come up with. The first few logos were way too close to the movie's logos and so that's when I said that. I'm hoping someone can come up with something creative and unique. I'm not deadset on the mafia theme either. They are just more to my liking than the others right now. You got something you think will work then let me see it. You never know.

Man you folks are competitive. There's some great qualities in each of your logos. But I still haven't seen an absolute favorite. So I want to give some feedback. I hope it helps.

I'm looking for MY logo. Something unique and exclusive. It's hard to stand out in this city when there are about 100 pest control companies competing. A bug is a bug and every company has very similar logos. I'm hoping for more than my name or a bug. I want something iconic. Something that'll wow them.

In general - I'm not liking the sunburst that's showing up on almost all the ranked logos.

#60 - I love the comic book version of the mob guy, but the sunburst and just the overall logo itself is a bit lacking. The mob guy has a great quality to him. I love the way the face fades into shadow. This guy also makes me think of the original Godfather of Godfather Pest Control - my dad - who started the company 26 years ago. This would really stand out - if the rest of the logo were as high quality.

#66 - You got the circle logo that I like, but the banner feels a bit feminine to me. Perhaps removing the wrap-around portion and the decorative lines at the edges. Also the sunburst behind the guy. For now, the fonts are good but the way it's read is Pest Control Godfather - Somehow the Godfather has to be above the Pest Control. Also "Inc." must be added (Pest Control, Inc.) Perhaps the man can be more of a silhouette above the banner? Or I'm still open to other ideas if they work better - like removing the banner. Your call. Looks great though.

#61 - Great fonts. Godfather is really prominent. The colors do look kind of antique but may be just too close to #66's idea. Maybe brainstorm on some different color combinations to make yours stand out. Also, I'm not really liking the dead bug at all. Unfortunately, if there's a live bug, it kind of gives the impression we're not good at our job. And if there's a dead bug, well, that's just kind of gross. The white hat reminds me of a Florida beach. Not really working for me.

#64 - This one is pretty cool. Kind of reminds me of the Harley-Davidson logo. Again, don't like the dead bug. But the fonts are great. Very bold. Overall it's a good logo but just not capturing that top spot for me.

#63 - You definitely captured that 30's look with the font. Not really sure it's the one for me though. Again, same issues with the hat, bug and sunburst.

#62 - Pretty much the same comments as earlier. All 4 of these logos have a great feel to them, but they're just not 'it' for me. Thank you though.

#39 - This one would make a great sign. But it's just not iconic. It doesn't have that quality I'm looking for that would represent us. I love the font you used for Godfather. Thank you.

#32 - I actually love this logo. it reminds me of a movie poster for Kill Bill or James Bond. Unfortunately though it just is not what I'm looking for in a new company logo. Thanks though.

#3 - Love that a slogan was created for us. Very humorous and light hearted - but just didn't convey the nostalgiac feel we really would like. I appreciate that you were my first submission and got this ball rolling. Thanks.

#67 & 68 - Feels mis-aligned somehow. Also, this could be any company's logo. I'm looking for unique. Something that will really stand out. Thank you though.

You mentioned how the image of the "Godfather" reminded you : This guy also makes me think of the original Godfather of Godfather Pest Control - my dad - who started the company 26 years ago. It might be cool to try to use an image of him as "the Godfather", just don't know how that could work here in this venue. post an image? Might ask the site manager - just an idea. MM
