What We Do
GamerID is a social network website for video gamers, to help them manage their game collection, wish lists, online gaming profiles, gaming history, friend lists, etc.

Color Preferences
No orange, please. We like blues and greens, and this needs to work on a white background, a dark background, and a wide variety of "skinnable" graphic backgrounds, which will mostly be dark.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We think we'd prefer the word "gamer" lower case, and "ID" upper case, but we're open to anything if the design looks good. We also can't figure out how to make the "accepted file format" say ".psd" - we'd prefer that over .eps. Good luck!

#122: This is REALLY cool, and as an old-skool gamer I think it's neat, but the dimensions make it wrong for our application. But I still I wanted to point out how cool I thought it was. ;)

#135, #136, #137: Out of these three, I like the green of the scanner pad on #137 the best. But I'm not crazy about the font on any of them. Can you give us some different font choices and styles, but using the scanner pad on #137?

#143, #143, #144, and #145: These look cool, but... we don't want to incorporate the Wii controller, since we are hoping to use our logo for a long time after whatever replaces the Wii is out, and we don't want that to date the logo. We also don't want to alienate other gamers from other platforms. I don't think the controller and CD elements will work for us, but hold onto those designs for some future contest holder who needs a Wii-related logo. :)

Kinda thought the same thing myself, but just had to get those ideas out of my head to move on :) More suggestions? I have a few more I'm working on... send ya a few PM's, check your email.

Oh and on #122 oh yes, memories I use to compete in space invader competitions too, oh no, does that show my age? ;) haha Boy games have sure changed, but boy I loved me some space invaders, tempest, and those other old school classics :)

More suggestions? Hmm... I like the idea of perhaps using a generic-style game controller as the "M" in the word "gamer." Design #108 uses a person's body as the M, but it's not a far stretch for me to see how a designer could incorporate a video game controller in a similar shape for that letter.

If nobody's willing to tackle that, then I keep coming back to my thought of wanting to see a design that combines my favorite parts of the currently top-two ranked images. I love the feel of the word "GAMER" in #125, and I love the feel of the word "ID" in #137. I realize I can't simply split the prize money between both designers and then take my fav part of both designs, but perhaps both designers would each willing to take a shot at re-interpreting my favorite part of the other design, but in their own style? I certainly don't want anyone to feel like they are stepping on toes, or getting theirs stepped on, and I certainly want to respect the rules and the creative process of every designer who has participated. But I'm also trying to get a final product that I'm extremely happy with and can display with pride as the image for our company, so I'm trying to provide the most honest feedback of what I'm seeing and what I'm liking.

Feel free to reply here, or private message me if anyone has questions or feedback. :)

#148: Cute and original!

#150: Too much reflective treatment to the text.

#151: Same text feedback as above, and I preferred your original scanner's border (included in #150), but maybe it would be cool to see it with no border at all?

Guys sorry to tell everyone but a thumb print in a logo is kindoff a "knock knock" joke in Communication Design.

Just posted several other ideas. Fonts and colors could be easily changed with any you may like.

#189: I like everything except the droplets. It kinds looks like the hand is bleeding. :) Can I see this one without that? Also, please kill the shading around it. We want to imagine this on a dark web background, as well as white printed paper.

#179: Can you make the ID a bit more bold, and share the baseline with the "gamer." And maybe switch the current font weights of the "id" and the "gamer" (so that "gamer" is standard, and "id" is bold).

#166: This is cool - but the "g" is kinda funky in that font. Can you take a stab with some different fonts?

I used the green blood in #189 trying to present the idea of the "gamer-maniac's" DNA, that could enforce even more the connection behind the ID element. I'll get you the updated versions without the blood and on blank and dark backgrounds soon.

...how do i get that "not interested" off my thumbnail?

Welcome Vidi... just means the contest wasn't interested in that particular submission. Try submitting more... make sure to read all the notes, suggestions etc.. and keep trying... try to come up with new twists on things, usually if they are not interested, a color change etc isn't going to change their mind, just try new designs .. They will still show up in your portfolio unless you remove them... so if you think they are good, then keep them... and keep trying other contests too... have fun
