What We Do
gameDB is a listing service for games on all platforms that provides syndicated content to other web sites.

Color Preferences
Colors are open-ended. Keep it simple, relatively bold. The logo should be recognizable if it's reduced to a single color, however.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Think IMDB (in terms of what service we are building, not in terms or look and feel). We are building a service that feeds data to a number of external sites, and we are focusing on building a complete, targeted, organized database of all electronic games ever made for any platform. Play with any imagery that evokes gaming: dice, gamepad, joystick, cartridge, etc., but we will probably prefer the logo to be a recognizable abstraction of one of those rather than a literal drawing. We want simplicity, and impact.

You can see a stripped-down version of the current site here: http://www.gamedb.com It basically has no 'style' yet; we're just testing out some tech.

The logo will also appear on other sites, in the context of "powered by", so the logo should scale down well. Bonus points if it somehow conveys the idea that our information is broadcast, syndicated, shared.

One note for anyone entering. We need some sort of 'icon' that we can use to brand ourselves. Because the name is so terribly generic, we need a visual that over time can come to equivocate the name.

Possible graphical elements to suggest games: gamepads, buttons, joysticks, dice, classic arcade-looking space ships, cards, etc. Possible elements to suggest the syndication/database/backbone angle of what we do: RSS-style semi-circles, circuits, database cylinder, broadcast tower, etc. The ideal design will be one that has an abstract icon/mark combining at least one but preferably both of these ideas into a single graphical element.

the best way to say thanks is rank as many designs as you can when the contest finishes as this is how we gain points =)

That's why we pulled some back from 'not interested'. Even if we're not interested, we want people to get points for their effort.

FYI: We are just coordinating conversations now with people in different time zones. Winner to be selected very shortly.
