What We Do
This logo represents a national initiative to establish Future Child Advocates undergraduate and graduate student organizations/clubs on college campuses whose work is to build awareness, support and understanding of their role in child advocacy personally and within their greater college communities especially related to the areas of bullying and child abuse. Club membership is across disciplines providing opportunities for students to consider including child advocacy in some way in their future professional roles.

Our Ideas & Additional Information
We initially designed a logo (attachment) that tried to represent FUTURE since we were trying to motivate college/graduate students to get involved, learn more about these important advocacy areas where each of us can DO SOMETHING no matter what path we take in life. We all can protect children, i.e. advocate. Thus, we came up with this WINDOW idea-looking beyond or into the world, etc.

We also initially wanted to see if we could have a logo that could allow the logo of a college/university to be embedded in it as well …thus window panes for easy swapping.

BUT we DON’T think this is necessary moving forward IF we have a STRONG logo image for FCA…perhaps each club could just add text, not image under the Future Child Advocates logo w/ wording, e.g. Teachers College (FCA-TC), etc. Attachments are just illustrations of what we used as a “pilot idea”…open to enhanced suggestions at this point.

Thanks to all who have already contributed to our logo challenge. My team is excited to view the "starting line up" already! For all to think about - which has occurred to us as we viewed the current logos - our concept is development of a college club to encourage CHILD ADVOCATES in the FUTURE. We think of one idea as "Future Child Advocates" as one flowing idea - not broken up in words so to speak either...or if design needs to be split ... Future - Child Advocates... if that makes more sense. We also want to be sure that our logo appeals to many ages of children - young, older, teens and beyond - so any imagery used perhaps needs to be more abstract to show that variation. Lots of colors of orange/blue emerging...and we are liking those with shading...gives a lighter feel. Haven't seen yet the idea of "future" illustrated enough - like through the window or looking glass or sky...but we know it's out there! THANK YOU ALL so much for your creativeness and spirit!

Reminder....Future - Child Advocates... Should match concept...Child Advocates goes together (color-size) perhaps. Looking for more interesting and brighter/shading of blue and orange (dark to light)...hard to describe...but perhaps "changing up" the colors a to create more of a "Wow Effect"....less "heavy lettering...we like what you all are thinking/tweeking...not quite there...but definitely moving...how to SHOW MOVEMENT to the future....still looking for that...and this needs to appeal to the "next generation" of college students - some kind of "pizzaz"! Thanks for ideas....more as I hear from the team. :-)!

Our logo needs to attract students to learn more about the club therefore hope is to have a more vibrant or interesting way to perhaps blend the colors of blue and orange...darker/shaded..."new" color...not necessary to keep with standard blue. Also, how to depict the concept ADVOCATE visually which suggests....champion, spokesperson, crusader, fighter...for the rights of children against child abuse and bullying. Colors and image has to be strong and clear to represent that concept. Not seeing/feeling that yet in the designs/images in particular.

Thank you to all and additional designers joining with new ideas. Logo Team discussing...making us all think about what message we really need to emphasize. Team moving away from EMBLEM and CHARACTER types of designs and seriously looking at PICTORIAL MARK and more ABSTRACT images. The "feel" is definitely KEY for the Team - Simplicity - Clean with the Colors and Words flowing together. Looking into the World to support ACTION. Open to ongoing ideas. Thanks!

Sorry...awaiting Logo Team comments on our end which have been a bit delayed given vacations in our world. Thank you to ALL new entries and edits underway. Indeed will be responding to all in the next few hours. Will be carefully considering wording on all entries. Especially concerned to see fluidity of concepts.... Future Child Advocates as one ... or Future - Child Advocates ... if separated. Students are not Future Child ... Advocates....that is what is difficult to depict given the length of the words. Thanks to all. Will be in touch individually throughout today for sure.

Just putting this "out there"... Is there a way to highlight Future by adding some kind of "star/spark" to say the F of the word? No idea ... we just keep trying to blend in ideas that could keep logo simple, but indicate "spark" or future with just a touch of color? Again...we're just "thinking out loud" as we try to help all and us with moving an important cause forward. Thanks...just thinking! ???

Another idea that we are also looking at is a way to also perhaps highlight the FCA which is what universities might be using in their university/college individual "short hand". Could there be a way to somehow ..... again.... include that idea somehow....thinking, thinking....Thanks ALL!

THANK YOU to all designers who participated in the "Open" segment of the Tournament. You ALL contributed to our really THINKING about what our National Effort is all about and how to project our "mission/cause". It's not been easy to be really clear about this since we want "so much"... to be communicated to next generations on these important issues. You all have helped us BEGIN to be clearer about what image...wording...might reflect that as well. We are NOT finished...but we are determined to make this happen. Wish us Luck!

To DESIGNERS still involved/interested in working with our Logo Team for this Finalist Stage...A couple of things we are thinking about as we hopefully select a FINAL DESIGN for our national launch in a few days:

1. We have more than 5 designers in our final selection which were of interest to us. Therefore, we will be closely watching the Top 5 related to their involvement in the next 24 hours...in case there might be others who might want to get involved IF we changed rankings.

2. This logo represents the NATIONAL office with FCA clubs initiated in colleges/universities throughout the country. Somehow we wanted those clubs to be able to at least add their college name below the national logo. Previously they could add their college logo...but in our current thinking...that wasn't easily do-able from a design perspective. But just know, we keep hoping we can have a national logo that could somehow allow at least a college name below, etc.

3. Regarding #2...We also thought colleges/university clubs could use just FCA of " ......" to indicate their affiliation on campus. So, editing your logos, any help with this FCA somehow embedded or Capitals, etc....also of interest to us in final designs.

4. Finally, color is important to us given what they represent in our "cause" of child abuse and anti-bullying. However, we also know that college/university clubs do not always have the MONEY to support color printing of logos, etc. for their General Meetings or Flyers. Therefore, icons, letter sizes, etc. need to also be able to stand by themselves in black and white and to transmit the spirit, etc.

THANKS....we look forward to this next phase of creative work....thank you so much for your talent and spirit!

Thank you again to the Finalist designers for continuing to "tweek" their designs. You are making it very difficult for us to come to a final decision! Advocacy in the Future for Children is going to be difficult but needed around the world...so our logo will need to try and motivate that feel as a serious and important area of need.

THANK YOU again to ALL the designers who participated in our Future Child Advocates logo contest. It has been a fun...but challenging process for all of us. YOU MADE US REALLY THINK about what our logo was communicating and helped us all to reach concensus with your creative and interesting designs and changes. We wish you all well in your work...creative endeavors. You give much to help create better worlds for us all!
