I noticed in #13, #41, #42 that the F has rounded edges and the A has straight edges. Is this part of the design or an oversight. This may be the reason I like it, so I'm not complaining, but should the A have rounded edges or should the F have straight edges? maybe just the top of the A should be curved?
Is there any way I could get #13 put inside #24 with no tilt? And make the bomb slightly larger? What if when the contest is over I pick your logo. I know I get one download. Is there any way I can get variations made? My last graphic designer gave me a grayscale in 5 formats, a 1 color in 5 formats, the individual picture element in 5 formats and just the lettermark in 5 formats and just the wordmark in 5 formats. I can prod my friend to tear it apart from the vector but he'll take forever....
For the "F" having rounded edges and "A" having straight edges. When I first created #13 i thought it was too plain having all straight edges and if I added too much rounded corners maybe the design would lose some impact...
After making several different variations with the straight & rounded corners and staring at them for a while, maybe it could be good adding a rounded corner to the "A" and or removing one from the "F"
#65 - placed #13 inside the bomb. #66 - "FA" in white. #67 - Maybe we could make a speech bomb bubble? Also tried removing the shiny edges around "FA" #68 - Too show how it would look like in black and white.
Once you choose a winner you can request other variations of the logo, like a B&W version, on a white & black background, solid colors, grayscale. ect... also request the different format, PNG, TIFF, AI file, ect...
You get one download but we can send a ZIP folder with all the different variations inside.
Thanks for the invite, I'm glad I joined your contest!
After looking at the variations at this point I think it is best the way you originally designed it. I don't think it will be long before you have a much higher rank here. You are working harder than the other designer. I hope I don't offend you by asking for more creativity from other designers but I just know it will take a lot of work to top what you've done.
If you have time I would like to see the bomb resized to it's original size, (Just to see how it looks with #13 in it at it's intended size) and I would like to see color schemes galore. Pick some colors that nobody has introduced, play with the colors, pick some that you like, maybe try one where the right leg of the A in #13 is pink just like the fuze in the bomb in #65. Taking the shimmering outline off the FA in #67 improves it very much by marrying it to the bomb instead of having it stand out from the bomb. However I will be using the FA mark without the bomb and in that case I like the shimmering outline. I deconstruct my logos in my advertising and when branding. Sometimes I just use the Lettermark, sometimes I just use the pictoralmark, and sometimes just the wordmark, especially when stamping stuff on my equipment or getting shirts and hats done. As the day draws nearer I will organize my thoughts and put a list together of what pieces I need for the final logo.
You can wait a day if you want to make sure I don't change my mind, but I am leaning very strongly towards your designs at this point and no new submission has been able to sway me. The exclamation point in the A is a neat idea but I think the designer who brought it forth is of a lower skillset than you.
I saw those when you introduced them. It's good. I have all kinds of ways to expand on that, but I'm gonna wait to see if my friends pick up on it. For now I would like to see the bomb with the stylized FA worked on to nail it down.
Here's several variations of colors. #77, #79, #80, #81, #82, #83, #84.
#76 - No reflection in the "FA". a simple gradient. #78 - I wanted to show if we switch the colors on the "FA". but i prefer how we had it in #77
My favorite color would be the hotpink. I do prefer #13 better then #42. I feel having the green and pink, it is a little too much. I just think that having the pink, white and dark grey go so well together.
Here's #85 a other concept for the "Just. Dial. Awesome." idea.
Great. I noticed that they do look better, but depending on the color it seems the reflection on the bomb and the reflection on the FA don't quite match up. I looked closely and they are all the same but the difference in color makes it apparent on some and not on others.
I noticed most tweaks I have asked for have been for the worse though. The bomb didn't need to be bigger and the corners didn't need to be more or less rounded. I appreciate your input and give you full license to let me know your preferences because your calls have been better than mine thus far. I know the pink and the green is just too much. Are there two color combinations you can think of that would work? I notice that on most except the purple, blue, red and pink the word Awesome is hard to read. When I put them all up on my monitor and stand back I can't really read it. Does the wordmark portion need an outline or a chubby "die cut" black background?
And regarding the reflection. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. Each time I look I see something different, and it really does look different depending on the colors...
#86. Looks good. This is money well spent. I was trying to imagine my card. I thought a shiny black background for the card would be best, and while that bomb looks good like that, I think I will want the main colors to work best on a white background. Not sure though. The black background makes so many of these designs really stand out. I have to think on it.
My favorite color combination is pink and a dark gray, but I also like the blue instead of pink. Adding an extra color is just too much I find, I would keep it 2 colors max, you don't really count white as a color.
I played around with the reflections with different colors. but they are all match the same, depends on the colors.
For the wordmark, i would not add a outline, gradient or anything else, I would keep it clean and simple with a solid color. It is more easy to read and look more professional to me. some colors will be harder to read, like the green for example, I could put the green darker but it wouldn't look neon anymore, I think keeping with the neon colors is a good direction, specially with the neon pink or blue. I would not be worry if it's hard too read, once printed will be way clearer and easier to read. but for web, we could have the wordmark a bit bigger.
I think I like the neon pink. I would like to see you play with the wordmark a little bit, possibly extend "Entertainment" out a little wider. I think for #13 the color is perfect, and for the bomb I like the color on #24. They might be the same color or maybe not....
I would also like to see one with the bomb to the left of the wordmark with the wordmark aprox. as tall as the bomb. Bomb slightly larger is Okay as long as everything is centered up. (I know it will show up as small in this forum with all the white space.)
GREAT WORK! Some of my friends are trying to persuade me away from the bomb idea, but for every one of them that doesn't like it, there are ten that do. Because I respect their opinion I am inviting new ideas but no half hearted entry is going to sway me. It will have to be something truly remarkable. Tomorrow is going to be fun. I think I've seen enough variations. If indeed you win I will just give you a list of preferences and let you prepare the final files at your leisure while I enjoy my wilderness retreat/ Montana preacher event.
THANKS! I do understand about wanting to see more ideas... It was a great contest and I hope I will be receiving your list and preparing the final files... Have a great one tomorrow at your wilderness retreat!
