Hi Damien, following a further evaluation we've re-ranked the proposals. #27 tops as it has a stronger visual impact.
There are some variations we suggest: - remove that pointy angle between the first e and S, working on the fonts - add some gradient and effects to the flat gray fonts (#28 looks great, if it wasn't for the unpractical dark background) - instead of a chilly can we try with saffron ? an expensive spice, with a characteristic colour if not shape - in #37 the multiple chillies convey variety at a price of strength. Can we try with different colors on the same single chilly ? the colors of the "e" in #22 looks pretty hot (& spicy) - also in #36 the dots convey variety at a price of meaning. Can we try to replace dots with powders ?
It is difficult to have a good impact with the shape of Saffron. We realize this by comparing the #50 and #52.
Saffron is a very dark red ... but coloring the food in bright yellow. There is therefore difficult to know what is the color in the collective unconscious.
I think the chili symbolizes the "spices" in general. And it is better to add a "Saffron" color (yellow / dark red) as #44.
Regarding the spices powders ... I'm still looking. It is difficult, as can be seen on the contest, make a logo with a strong impact with powder (dots).
I agree with you that the saffron and powder doesn't improve. While we like the top ranked proposal we would love some more degree of creativity and daring.
An idea could be to spend eSpice in plain text, the font you choose is great, and add a graphical logo.
The powders in bright colors could maybe be used from a photo, rather than with the halftone dots ?
I've been thinking of what to ask to improve the #76, but I've found nothing. It looks great just as it is. Definitely in short list !
We're actually also exploring alternatives without the explicit chilly, if you want you can submit your ideas. It would be something that looks smart, fresh, spicy, simple yet sober and compliant with a professional environment. It would need to be recognizable even alone.
1) on #171 flip the chilly horizontally 2) on #171 remove the chilly, add a normal "i" and add a different logo on the left of the text that is evocative of the fresh and chilly idea
Salut Damien, I wanted to say a special thanks for your work. I really loved since the beginning your proposals with chilly and it was a strong candidate winner.
Just we realized at a point that the chilly itself would have been an heavy presence in our communication.
