What We Do
An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within a set time limit.
Color Preferences
I'd like to strike a balance between being approachable (black and white might be too intimidating) versus being childlike (too many colors). I think a bold color would be nice, but I'm not too set on any color specifics. One thing I should note is that I prefer the logo on a white background (positive instead of negative image).
Update: I've been wondering why people haven't been following my color preferences and I see now that it's because the updates I did on the first day of the contest weren't being shown in this box.
I am not interested in black/white/grayscale only logos. I do not like orange, aqua, and yellow. I typically don't like brown, but if you are designing a treasure chest, then it would make sense to have a dark brown chest with brass lock on it.
From my previous two contests, you can see that I've chosen logos with purple and blue in it as the dominant colors. Please feel free to look at my previous contests to see what colors make the top choices.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
EscapeRoomDirectory.com has a link to every escape room (and competitive logo) in the world. There are a lot of recurring design images that I'd like to provide comments on. Chains are too masculine and intimidating - no one is being chained here. Keys and keyholes are okay, but becoming cliche and overdone. Puzzle pieces and Mazes were commonplace in early, less sophisticated escape rooms -- I want people seeing the logo to recognize that this a next generation, higher tech escape room. A locked wooden chest or similar design item that contains a bit of mystery sounds exciting.
If you are planning on using an escape room as the graphic for the image, please not that my escape rooms will not have ceilings on them, so if seen from above you would be able to see inside them.
