What We Do

Central themes are interaction between humans and the environment, climate change, land use in cities, agricultural areas and forests, and marine biology. DENVI is a doctoral programme at the University of Helsinki.

Color Preferences
We'd like to see natural colours in the logo: blue, green, brown ect. It should not be a black and white or in grayscale. Few colours is better than all of the colours of the rainbow.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
In addition to our webpages the logo will be used in letters and in scientific posters and presentations. It should not be too complex. The word ‘DENVI’ should be written in large letters in the logo and the specification ‘Doctoral programme in interdisciplinary environmental sciences’ in smaller.

We wish the logo to depict the interaction between humans and the natural and built environment. The research done in our doctoral programme aims in finding solutions to various environmental problems, among other things climate change.

Dear designers,

After having a little meeting about various suggestions we have received thus far we'd have a few general comments for you:
* We like the green-blue-white as well as green-brown combinations. We like to see both combinations if you still have new ideas.
* As we have several fields of science involved we wish the logo would not be too obviously pointing in one direction. We'd like to see some plain and simple and even rather abstract ideas. Using for example leaves in the logo directs one's thoughts quite strongly towards plants. We are so much more than just plants. We are also about agriculture, fisheries, forests, city environments, people and so on. But as it is probably impossible to put all of those into one figure perhaps it is better to stick to something abstract and plain.

Dear designers,

Thank you all very much for the brilliant ideas you sent for us! We have a meeting tomorrow to rank the ideas so you will hear from me then again.
