After a great experience with this system before I'm back for another logo!

This one is for an online community, conference and set of published materials from digitalsafety.com

The objective of the organisation to bring together an influential group of thought leaders from across government, technologists, human / civil rights activists, legal and education professionals, etc who all share a passion for the great benefits of technology but are also aware of the risks caused by a growing number of those who seek to abuse digital technology. Such abusers include cyberstalkers, online bullies, on-permission based location based marketing, etc.

Activities within the group will be to "rehearse" the arguments for government interoperability so that laws can be deployed to react to cross-border digital abuses, e.g. cyberstalking across geographical borders.

Not keen on anything too literal or appears to be wanting to restrict the use of technology.

Padlocks, road safety signs and the like are all out! :-)

Our position is that we are passionate about the liberation and benefits that technology brings but we also realise that there are risks that need to be recognised and the arguments rehearsed between stakeholders to identify solutions to ensure safety whilst maintaining the sense of liberation and benefits that digital technology - web, databases, gps location, SMS, mobile phones, digital records, etc can bring.

Cheers

I just want to reiterate that we are really passionate about the liberating nature of digital technologies and enjoying the benefits.

However, as we know, there are idiots out there that spoil it for everybody else so we're really about creating a forum for stakeholders to identify solutions that maintain the freedom of technology whilst protecting digital citizens.

Thanks

Hi Everybody

Ok, there's some interesting ideas arriving here but my overall comment on nearly ALL of the designs so far is that they are being too literal and in particular getting hung-up about the word "safety".

Although shields are making it into the rankings at the moment I'm concerned that they still represent a form of message that says "keep out" rather than embracing digital technologies and starting a discussion about how we might tackle emerging issues concerning how these technologies might be abused.

For example, a gps location device stitched into the clothing of kids might be great if they go missing and most people would rush into deploying such a tech until they consider issues surrounding civil liberties, access to data, etc.

The organisation is pro-technology, pro-civil liberties, pro-freedom of speech, pro-liberation - Obama rather than Bush - we just recognise that as Spiderman says with "great power comes great responsibility" :-)

We don't want to make the playground so safe that it's no fun anymore we just want to make sure there are mechanisms in place that work globally and across nation states to keep the crazies out of the park and deal with them effectively if they do.

Hope this is clear now and looking forward to seeing more hot designs.

Thanks

Everytime that your business partner sees the safety jacket they will think of your company. Association with a widely used common object builds the brand.

Apologies to all those who have been waiting on responses from me. I've been having trouble accessing this site which is either due to a localised DNS problem in the UK or a busy server problem at LogoTournaments end.

Either way, I've reported it to Tyler and and will do the best I can in the meantime. The fact I'm in now may mean whatever was the problem is now fixed but it has been intermittent.

:-)

#192 is a re-submission due to an inadvertent removal.
It was originally posted much earlier in the contest -- before #157.
Thanks!
