Product
Logo for Desk.no

The logo should work both online, on print and on merchandise.

Desk.no is short for newsdesk.no.

Site category
Online Media. News. Debate. Discussion.

Desk.no is making voices be heard.

The website desk.no is cultivating the ongoing news-driven debate, by empowering bloggers, first hand sources and opinion leaders.

Design profile
The design for the logo, and later the web site itself, should unite modern web 2.0 with classic, serious typography. The design feeling should be twitter meets New Yorker. We are looking for the impossible comination of smashing modern tabloid storytelling and stylish lowkey elegant layout design.

Designs we love
We think that the nowegian online newspaper www.dagbladet.no really has understood how to use powerful pictures, short texts and good titles to sell clicks to their users. We love the cool typography of the fashion magazine Fantastic Man (http://www.fantasticman.com/magazine/fantastic-man-12/). We love the colourful Spanish printed newsmagazine “I” (http://www.innovationsinnewspapers.com/index.php/2010/10/10/innovations-i-becomes-the-best-designed-newspaper-os-spain-portugal/). We think that Yahoo News (news.yahoo.com) is an effective and tidy website. We like the use of huge pictures and little text on www.d2.no.

Logos that we love
We like simple clean logos that communicate well. From WWF and FedEx to Apple. We love all the logos in this blogpost http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2010/09/30-great-logos-with-smart-concepts/

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for the Designers' hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.
