What We Do
www.dermoscopyonline.com.au is the website under construction. Targeted at doctors, nurses and dermatologists the 56 hour course will aim to teach an excellent level of confidence in diagnosis skin cancer, in particular melanoma. Bit of info on the home page of the website. There are not too many good logos so open to ideas but one idea I have is to depict a melanocyte in some fashion with a space age look. The dendrils could go anywhere. The website is blue and black but that could be modified if required. I like colour. The website will have lots of colourful dermatoscopic images so maybe the logo does not need to be so much (google dermoscopy images). Think dermatoscope (cliched), surgery, scalpel, stitches. Market is worldwide but particularly countries where the doctors do skin cancer surgery. Predominant market is Australa/NZ the skin cancer capital of the world. Learning will be totally online for the first course. There will be an in field supplement course created where people will come on trips to learn in person.

Discussion

To all it would appear the blacks and grey take the colourfullness away. I probably prefer the sky blue rather than royal blue. Don't be afraid to let the dendrils on the melanocyte go crazy. Signifies the aggressive nature of melanoma in a way. Also don't want to appear to be too clinical and conservative.

Thanks for all of the work from everyone so far. Some good work with some of the concepts. The colour palette is pretty drab generally. Magnifying glasses, simple dermatoscopes incorporated into the name will be too basic here. My website and marketing materials will really aim to utilise the multi colour of dermatoscopic images, that you can see at the bottom of my home page: www.dermoscopyonline.com.au The focus in the logo will not so much the name but the design of the logo itself. I will try and give individual feedback today.

I would like to introduce another concept. Google: dermoscopy starburst pattern. Thanks to everyone for your efforts. I am favouring a focus on the logo not the name. Needs to be bold, haphazard is using the melanocyte or dermatoscopic structures and preferably standing out with the colour palette.

What about the concept of trying to encompass a melanoma like this:

Thanks to everyone for the designs so far. So many wonderful designs, but so far the perfect design hasn't hit the mark. In dermoscopy, doctors see so many different colours, structures and patterns. Skin cancer in particular melanoma is characterised by total asymetry, haphazardness, chaos and randomness. I would suggest everyone have a break for one day. I think what i need to see is:
1) a melanoma in all it's multicoloured beauty dominated by black, brown, white, red blood vessels and blue
2) an image that shows a multitude of the multicoloured shematic features that you would see on dermoscopedia across BCC, SCC and melanoma
3) I am not sure how easy it is to depict a colour photo image of a BCC or melanoma. I will think on it.
I do like the melanocyte concept and the starburst pattern of a spitz naevus. We haven't quite captured the melanoma yet. Our art is like sexxing chickens. If you see a pattern the brain lights up, we cut it out and 1 in five will be positive and we have saved a life.
