My entry is intended to show a happy customer. The silverware is in disarray as at the end of the meal and the plate has a subtle smile in the shadow of the inner rim. The decorative elements are leaves showing freshness with arrows pointing in towards the plate to show that it's been delivered.
Very cool outline! The most creative so far :-) Bumped you up to 4th position. Am very exited about where this could go. This green is relatively pale, so I'm looking forward to seeing this brought to life with more color/contrast.
Hehe, posted my reaction before I read your explanation. A second first, because you are the first to describe what you created and why :-) The design is growing on me with every second. Do have to go to bed now because I have to get up early to hit the gym before work, but can't wait to wake up to some more Josh :-D
haha - yes, I try to always design with a purpose :) (I think it's important to share that purpose, too!)
It's mid-afternoon here, so I'll have a while more to think on it. I created this logo with your comment about possibly using the logo as a label in mind, so I'll explore that a little more as well.
Thanks for the ranking and feedback. Have a good evening!
Here are some more color variations that might show up a little better.
#162 / #161 / #159 combine a logo with a usable label. #162 shows the "everyday" logo (it currently says EST. 2014 - but it could be changed to whatever you wanted - possible an illustration?) If you wanted to use it as a label, you could have them printed with the circle area blank and you could write in desired info. In #159, I put a time (12:30p) sort of a "made fresh at this time" type of thing. Or, you could write in if it's an entree or appetizer - or just what the main ingredient is - for instance: "Rocket salad"
Basically - the concept is that the logo could also serve as a functional label :)
Have good workout! I just finished my time on my stationary bike (I was thinking about this project the whole hour - haha) josh
These new designs are a very nutritious breakfast. Loving them! Can't quite decide which way to go yet, but put two of your designs right up there at rank 1 and 2 (#161 and #159). Love the fact that you made the logo have a function. I am exited to start using something like this :-D
Yesterday just before you posted your designs I asked everyone the following: "My current top 5 consists out of very manly looking labels. They could even remind you of a whisky label. I really love them, but I find myself wondering how a female, fresh and light version would look like. Something that reminds you of eating a salad in a park on a sunny day with a beautiful woman, instead of having whisky with your best friends in a bar."
So, #161 really goes for the Jack Daniels Kinda vibe, and I love it. #159 comes close to the salad in the park, but I'm curious if you can make it even more sunny and fresh. Maybe work on the color somehow. And I still find the outline (maybe add the functional oval of #161) very interesting. It's a light version. Like that a lot as well.
And about the payoff. Somebody just put those words up there, but those words aren't the payoff. Haven't decided yet to be honest. But I'm thinking about "Delivering deliciousness". What do you think, as a native American? :-)
Going for a run now. Looking forward to the last few hours of this competition :-)
Good morning! (for me it's 8:30 am - your last message came in at midnight for me, so I just saw it :) ) I trust your run went well? I used to run quite a bit, but I hurt my knee and now it gives me problems when I run too much, so I ride my stationary recumbent bike instead...not nearly as much as fun as the run, though.
Regarding color choices, all LT designers typically provide a few different color versions with chosen logo. SO - the good news is that you don't have to decide between dark & manly and salad-time in the park - you can have them both! :D I'll continue to work on fresh color palettes, just wanted you to know that you don't have to choose just one color version :)
For the payoff, I pulled them from your points to emphasize in the brief, but I like your idea for a more contained / succinct line. I think "Delivering deliciousness" is good - particularly with the two "d-e-l" words. I'll work with it and see what I can come up with.
I'll have something this afternoon, if that's okay. Thanks for all of the feedback! I really like where this logo is headed.
Hera re some more color choices as well as some different payoffs. If you like a tagline, but prefer a different color combination, that's easy to switch out, too :) Any changes / revisions that you'd like to see, just let me know. Thanks Stephan!
Thanks you very much for the new colors. I think we can make a combination of taglines, colors and other stuff work in the upcoming days. Have to be honest... your competition isn't much of competition hehe. Your logo is the most awesome of all, and the other guys will have to get madly creative to even play in the same league as you do.
Now it is time for me to up my game and think about the little things I want in the logo, the details.
I've got something for you to ponder during a (stationary) bike ride ;-)
The thing about Dabbawalla is that it isn't your average food delivery thing. It will be much more like http://www.purepackage.com/how-gourmet-diet-delivery-works/ a London based company that does the same as I want to do. The funny thing is that I came up with the idea of Dabbawalla and then found PurePackage and discovered the litteraly had the same proposition as I had in mind. They have been around for about 10 years now. Pretty awesome.
I want to make Dabbawalla a scalable business, but want to 'Pilot' small. First I want to start delivering (per bike http://www.juizz.nl/babboe-transporter.html?gclid=CNXfvZfZir4CFckJwwodUAcANQ ) in Amsterdam. When the proces is finalized and everything is up and running, I want to copy it to the next biggest city in the Netherlands.
So wat I really want to do, is take everything that has to do with food (meal planning, shopping, preparation, cooking and cleaning) out of the life op the people who are to busy, but do want to eat healthy.
haha - I'll keep that in mind. It's only 38ªF right now, so I'm glad my bike is in the house!
I like those delivery bikes - really cool! The business idea is great - I think a lot of people would like to eat healthier but - as you've said - don't have the time, but also because they just don't know how to cook or WHAT to cook that's healthy and still tastes good enough to eat. (In the US, I think people like that usually resort to eating salads - but then they add a bunch of heavy dressings and not-so-healthy proteins that make their salads worse than regular "unhealthy" food!)
Here's an idea I came up with for a main logo. This has a small circle with food icons (representing the planning / shopping), cooking icons (representing the preparation) and clean-up icons (representing the...well...the clean-up). It's basically the same as the previous logos except for the icons, so you could use this one as a main logo and then have a version without the icons and a write-in spot (like #181) for product.
Like the icons very, but not for in the logo. It's to much. Would love to use the icons on the site to explain the simple steps of the Dabbawalla service though :-D
I'm still pondering about the tagline. I love the concept around "We think about food, so you don't have to", but it is far to long for a tagline. It does cover everything we do. We take everything around food out of your hands.
Yes - you're right. Looking at it with fresh eyes today, it is too much. I'll hold on to the icons for a later time.
I was trying to think of some taglines yesterday...here's my quick list: • We worry about food so you don't. • ME(AL)TIME • Don't worry, be hungry. • Enjoy your meal, we'll do the rest. • Breakfast, lunch & dinner is served. (a play no the phrase "Dinner is served.") • Wheel In • Meal on • Wheel Out • Bring your appetite, we'll bring the rest. • From our kitchen to your table and back.
I actually prefer the #161 / #162 color scheme. It gives the most contrast / strength to the name and looks the most elegant, in my opinion. :)
Pitcht the the 'bob' to some friends, they liked the feel very much, you almost start singing it, but they thought 'hungry' has a negative connotation. And we don't want that. But they didn't come empty handed:
haha - thanks Always nice to start the day with kind words! I really like writing taglines / marketing text, but I don't get the chance to anymore since becoming full-time freelance.
yeah, I could see it interpreted that way - as in your "I'm still hungry". Healthy could work, too...but it could be too vague?
Does: "Don't worry, EAT healthy" still work with planting the song in your head? "Eat" makes the "healthy" part more specific and sounds similar to "be"...
Don't worry, I'll keep you busy with writing taglines ;-) And true about the hungry. But still a brilliant find if you ask me :-D I'll ponder on the EAT healthy variation. Loving this part :-D
Also - "being / be" healthy can be a result of a few things. You could "be" healthy by exercising, drinking more water, taking health supplements, etc. "Eating" healthy is only that - eating. So it's more specific to your food / service, if that makes sense?
(I apologize if it doesn't make sense...I sometimes write like I think...which is in jumbles - hahahaha)
#197 - I added the tagline and put the EST.2014 in the circle. It's easy to remove so that it would be a blank spot for writing (which I will provide as an alternate), but I wanted to have the "full" version at hand.
Hehe, if Dabbawalla will become a big ass succes, maybe I will ;-) We will have to change the est. 2014 into 'Made by Josh' when that time comes ;-)
I just rearranged my top 5 so that everybody who has worked very hard on their logo's get the credit they deserve. I also told them that I am going with #197 and that I am not going to choose them. And even though it's not a surprise, I do want to say congratulations to you!
I hope we can finalise this last phase before wednesday, swop some contact information and continue to work together in the near future after this. I will be needing those icons pretty soon too :-D I really think your input is going to help me run my business better. So thanks for that (in advance).
Awesome - sounds good! I think you can end the contest early if we're all set - not trying to rush you though.
I do all sorts of print work, so I'd be happy to quote some jobs once the contest is complete. :) It was great working with you - lots of great brainstorming & feedback! If you need anything else, just let me know.
I'm going to be leaving in an hour or so...taking my kids to see Amazing Spiderman 2!
Spiderman was awesome - they loved it! (I liked it too...I like the marvel / disney movies better, but I'm a secret comic book nerd, so I couldn't resist)
Looking forward! :-D And I know what you mean, that just don't hit the spot like the originals do. I mean: Iron Man 1 and The Avengers are one of my favorite movies :-) When I was young I always read the DC/Marvel comics. Nostalgic memories.
