Our first thought was to use earth tones to represent green / organic foods and grassroots community - but we're 100% open to other ideas and suggestions!
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Please take a look at the website where the logo will appear - www.cookum.com. To get a feel for the Cookum community in action, enter the zip code 02139. One thing to note: people will begin adding pictures to their food soon, so the site will probably be a bit more colorful than it is now. Thanks!

#4 - I really like the use of our current color palette and the simplicity of the design. I'm very open on the issue of whether to include the Cook Eat Connect, so please don't feel like you have to include it.

#1 Although I like the rounded font and the touch of green, I think the purple color could be a little bold for Cookum's logo

#6 - While I like the creativity of calling out "yum" in Cookum - especially the fact that you've managed to integrate a food reference into the logo - it makes it unclear whether our company is called Cookum or CookYum. I'd prefer to have just Cookum in the logo. Thanks!

#8 - I like your use of a real object (versus abstract design). However, I think the tree represents secondary qualities we're trying to convey (green, environment) . . . the primary idea we're trying to convey has to do with food and community.

#12, #11, and #13 - good creativity and use of color, but we'd like the logo to clearly convey the themes of food and community. These are a bit too abstract.

#15 - I like your use of our colors, name, and that you incorporated a image into the text. However, I think the egg and the chicken - while food related - are too specific and convey more farm than food. Can you try to incorpate other food images into the name, as I really like this approach.

#15, #17, #14, #4 - please don't include the .com part of Cookum. Thanks!

#18 - I like the playful font and the use of imagery, but can you try to integrate a food image that isn't a chicken? This is because some users of our site are vegetarians. Thanks!

#35 This is on the right track - it is simple and has a image that connects to food. That said, I'd prefer to not separate the 'cook' from the 'um' by having them in different colors (we're thinking of "Cookum" as one word, not two).

#35 - The Celtic overtones in the font are a little too strong, but the concept is good

#41, #38 - I like the imagery and the way you're referencing both cooking and the internet. If you could think of a way to communicate community, that would be even better.

#32 - The font is a bit too old-fashioned. We're looking for something a bit more playful.

Sorry for the 'old-fashioned' font. You seemed to like the font k-ono using -- which was created in 1881 by Gustav F. Schroeder.

#42 This is a little too busy. The general theme is correct, but we'd prefer a relatively simple logo. Thanks!

#43 and #44 both convey the theme of food, but they are a little to 'restaurant' for our logo. Because our site is one where people buy and sell homemade food, we’re looking for something that has a more community / neighborhood feel. Thanks!

#48 I really like the implied community vibe in this logo. I also like the simplicity. Maybe you could improve alignment / positioning of the people - something seems slightly off. Thanks!

#51 and #49 The fire makes for a very literal representation of 'cook' in Cookum, but I think we want our logo to say more . . . the theme of community and connection are also very important. Thanks!

Client
#41 and #45 - I love the general theme, but worry a little bit that an image of a computer mouse may be a bit too dated . . . can you think of another device / way to communicate technology connecting people with a more current image? Thanks!

Client
#55 I'm a bit partial to using just the word as the logo (like #41) - can you try to incorporate a non-mouse technology image into a logo like #41?

Client
#52 What I like about this logo is that you're incorporating simple images that relate to food into a relatively simple font. If possible, I'd love the logo to represent more than just the cooks - also community and technology.

#56 I like where you're going . . . two suggestions for improvement are 1) the mouse image may be a little too 'old school' as a symbol of technology and 2) first-time viewers who aren't familiar with Cookum may not recognize the chef's hat

Are you leaning towards no community/internet/technology/eco-friendly reference now like in #66 ?

Client
#66 I like the simplicity and the playfulness, but have the following suggestions: 1) the hat may be too tall to reasonably fit into certain headers on our site and 2) the image may be a bit too childish. Thanks for the submission!

Client
#55 seems like a promising premise, but I don't think it will scale well -- there may be too much going on on the screen for it to work when small

Client
#55 Can you explore the concept of connecting through technological means one more iteration, keeping the chef, revving the computer monitor? Just a thought . . .

Client
#75, #76 While the concept has potential, the pot and pan are probably not distinct enough (especially at a small scale). Also, we'd like more a human element - and ideally a community element - integrated into the logo to show that Cookum is a place where you go to buy and sell homemade food in your communty. Thanks!

#78 I really like this . . . could you also try it with a white background? Thanks!

chef's hat is a professional symbol, and here we talk about homemade food, who uses a hat in the kitchen?

I think It's more a fundamental symbol when talking about "cooking", "baking", etc even when talking about homemade foods. You also want to instill the idea that the quality of the food is on a professional level. When you're dealing with large amounts of production food, the cook/chef/person making the food should be wearing some sort of hair-net anyways. Just my ideas...

if I want professional cooking, I'll go to a restaurant, while at home people cook with love, so that's the difference, and that makes homemade food better... the love in it :)

Thanks for all the great work that's been coming in! As a general comment, the logos we like best are turning out to have a few very similar characteristics: they are very simple, tend not to represent specific food items, tend to have a very simple (green-themed) color palette, and tend to have a human element. Hope this helps!
