Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

Dear Contest Holder, the treatment of the X in entry #46 is a concept and it belongs to hanny.
Please do not encourage the designers to copy other designers` ideas.
You may look at the bottom of this page and see the "Contest Holder Guidelines for posting" which say:
"We require that you do not ask one designer to use elements or concepts from another Designer. The general rule is that, if a Designer was the first to submit the idea, they essentially own that concept or idea for the remainder of the contest. Requests or ideas you have put in your contest Brief are fair game and open to everyone..."
Thank you!

i post a request for a larger x before entry 46 submitted

With all due respect, may I see where did you request for a larger X in the public comment area (prior to entry #46)? Or in the brief?
If you made that request to a specific designer (private request into his/her page), please notice that we cannot see that comment until the contest is finished.
Thank you!

The CH requested the larger X in regards to my entry #13 ....in my comment area.... 2 days before #46 was submitted. I imagine he did this for others as well. Thus Doing variations on the X are open to all.

However, the LEAF on the X can be protected by the original designer. Variations on the X however can not be protected by the original designer...and should be open to all.

Hello comdingo1:

Just to let you know, the phrase you've listed in the brief, "landscape design and construct" appears to have a grammatical error in it. When companies that build are referred to, they are called "construction" companies, not "construct" companies. So the tagline would be "landscape design and construction" as a result.

If you still like the idea of having "construct" there, you could list your tagline as "we construct and design landscapes" to be grammatically correct.

As far as requests to Designers go, if you have a request that alters your original brief, post it in the general comments area. One exception to this rule: if you ask Designers to use a concept that another Designer came up with. If a Designer came up with it, they're the only one who can modify it.

The "style" that #46 has is unique, it's not just "big." Designers can't copy the style of #46, because Designers face consequences here when they copy another Designer's style. They can get banned from the site for copying another Designer's concept/style.

So please understand their hesitation to follow your request; it appeared you wanted them to duplicate the style/concept in that design. If you had said "I want a bigger X" as an update in the general comments area, and not referenced a design number, nobody would have had an issue with your request.

For further clarification on this issue, please see the text written at the bottom of your contest page, entitled "Contest Holder Guidelines for posting" -- it states the policy myself and TillyDesign are referencing.

We hope this information helps you. If you have any further questions about contest rules or design issues, do not hesitate to contact Support. The "HELP" link at the top-right area of your screen will get you in touch with Support personnel ASAP.

Jennifer - Just to clarify...As someone who owned a construction company for 14 years, I can assure you his tagline is correct. The three words are verbs. You "Landscape" a yard. You "design" the plan. You "construct" the design.

This is a commonly used verb in the industry.

Hi Tilly. There's "Landscape Design" companies and "Construction" Companies. The word "company" is the implied noun in the tagline. This is why inserting "company" in the tagline reveals "construct" is not used as the Client would intend. Example, using the tagline and inserting the implied word "company": "landscape design (company) and construct (company)."

if "design" was being used as a verb, I'd agree with you. In this case, it is not.

P.S.: If the Client intends to use all three as verbs, it is not written to reflect that. Here is how those words would be expressed as verbs to prevent any miscommunication:

"landscape, design, construct"

It's currently written as a sentence. There needs to be no "and" there if it's a tagline indicating three separate qualities. Otherwise "landscape design" is one term, and "construct" is another, rather than "landscape, design, construct" as would be intended with all three being verbs. Hope this helps.
