If you place more emphasize on one word of the company name over the other, I prefer the emphasis to be on "distinctive" rather than "communications." To reiterate, the use of the D and the C is NOT a requirement at all. It just seems to be where most of the artists have been leaning but I would be happy to entertain other options. I have become aware of several clothing lines that use the D and C as a part of their logo so of the options, I have preferred the designs that use them discretely so they are not as glaring. Please think of this as a opening to be creative and represent the essence of my company the best way you invision it creatively. The letters are not necessary to sumbit!
