FUNctional Solutions for Sensational Kids
What We Do
Common Senses provides high-quality, family-focused pediatric occupational therapy services for children experiencing developmental issues such as extremely picky eating, attention deficit disorder, autism, developmental coordination disorder, sensory integration disorder and trauma.
I specialize in evaluating how the brain takes in information from our (8) senses, organizes it, and acts on it (or doesn't). These 8 senses are "common" - we all have them - but most people don't know their importance to our behavior and well-being.
My ideal client is the mom of a child with the problems listed above (or similar) who is looking for high-caliber, attentive, affirming care for the benefit of her child and the family. Along with providing therapy, I will be coaching and offering classes for the family so that everyone can learn their unique sensory profile and what that means for family cohesion and resilience.

Color Preferences
I like colors found in nature. Blue is my fave, from indigo to periwinkle to marine to something with a touch of teal. I like a warm creamy yellow, a light peachy orange that would be called clay if it was darker. I like lime or spring green. Not crazy about red or purple. Black or grey are just OK, as is brown.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I thought about a bush (kind of like Tree of Life) with 8 roots representing the senses and 10 branches representing the different areas of human occupation.
I also thought about using a hummingbird because they have such extraordinary sensory awareness and body control to move the way they do. They are small but amazing!
I'm attaching a vision board I made when the idea of my own practice was just a spark.
