I also design websites....Do you have one to reference?

#1 - don't go with black -- too hard to read. The font is too lightweight as well. Also, avoid images of "books' or 'journals'

#2 and #3 - The font is too evocative of a comic book/comic strip, eg., the "g" is too informal. Also, think of another graphic instead of the 'comment box'. While we want to be modern, fresh, and clean, we also need to have some weight and gravitas, so the professors take us seriously. The typography options should include strong san-serifs or modern, classy serifs.

#4 - interesting graphic with the color book. Not sure how it would print with clarity on our site or the printed pieces. Try doing something with flat colors perhaps, but not too crazy. the font is a bit too 'collegiate', like a football jersey, but I like the strength of it. Also, try an inital cap. Thanks, cranberryblue!

Better font idea. Strong. See if it can also have some flow to it. BE careful of the blend i nthe pages - I think it will be too difficult to reproduce in a variety of media & channels (HTML e-mails, website, direct mail, the books, etc.). Also, our interiors will mostly be black and white, and this might confuse the audience that we're primarily a color printer.

Still there? A website to reference for this kind of publishing would be www.pearson.com, or other publishers like that. We're looking for something that has a modern style, but has integrity. Are my comments helpful?

#7 is VERY interesting. I really like that graphic - very nice! Perhaps take the metallic fade out of the type - it's a bit too brassy for the academic audience. The graphic is a hit, however. Thanks so much, and keep 'em coming, cranberryblue!

#7 again - one thing I really like about the graphic is that it's evocative of a visual Cog, while not looking like a cog. It conveys motion, but it's soft and organic, like the thinking process. Nicely done.

#8 - can you try mixing a couple of different color choices for the typography? The Orange color of #9 is gaining appeal, but I prefer the typography of #8. Thanks!

Or, try the mark of #9 with the typography of #8. ?

# 20 - I like the mix of the grey. It might be an interesting experiment to throw in grey, orange & green - of course, it might look too confusing.

Also, could you try it with a Capital 'C'? I'm wondering how that would work, or if it would compete with the mark as a visual anchor...

#39 - thanks so much for all the options, cb! I think that this logo will get plugged up when we reduce it too much, especially since print book covers with a high-end digital printer. Thanks for the great options!
