First let me say God Bless your new ministry. My father has been a pastor for 30 years, and we have experienced the joys...and trials of a new church plant. I pray the Lord will guide you through this exciting time!

I Always take a different approach when designing Church logos because I recognize the importance of what they represent.

I generally stay away from generic imagery (Crosses etc...unless they are requested. This icon needs to represent YOUR ministry, and speak of what YOUR calling is for it.

Matthew 5:14 Not only mentions that city on a hill but the light from it. This emblem is inspired by that potion of the text.

Please feel free to offer any suggestions or feedback.

Thanks again,
Paul

PS: Here are some other churches that I was fortunate enough to be selected by:

I like your work! Especially the well. I will be urging our plant team to be looking at the options over the next few days so I want a variety represented.

I like what you did with both of the different fonts of entries #14 and #15. I like the small, more subtle light of #15 than the rays in #14. I'm wondering how both of them would look if you simplified them and took out any color scaling? I want our logo to be easily reproduced in a variety of ways, which means fewer colors and probably no shading.

Did you look at the church logo I posted? I like it because it pushes the limits and is definitely eye catching. I also like Mars Hill Church because it looks sharp, clean, and is simple. Both only use one color. I wonder if we can shoot and hit something in the middle?

Please make some changes to what you've put up and mess around with a new idea between Mars Hill and the edgy church plant in Chicago.

Thanks for your words of encouragement! We are very excited for the next step. We are planting through a mother church and this is also a tense time. We would appreciate your prayers.

More and more people in our group are interested in #14. We would like to see it without the rays of light shooting upward and no glossy look on the red. Keep the font the same and the light burst in the middle of the graphic. That would be great!

Changes per your request...It may work better in this simple form when printing...less gradients are easier for the average office printer. The more detailed ideas will be fine if you have your printing done by a printshop.

Thanks again!

This is the same concept...I just added my version of a cityscape to the mix.

We had a group meeting last night and the majority of our group is behind #42. A few thought it was too much like what you see on a regular municipal sign. I don't agree, but I said I would ask one more time for more ideas. I think of all your ideas, the artwork on #42 is the best. Many in our group also like what you did with the font in #42 and how you made the l's taller. Some in our group liked the font underneath the artwork, like what you did in #'s 79 and 80.

So what we would like to see is the artwork in #42 with "city on a hill church" underneath, like in #'s 79-80, except with the same font in #42. Also, if you could try some different things with the font, like tall l's and a tall c to balance the name with church underneath, we would like to see that.

I'd love to close the contest early even if you have time to send us some new ideas soon. Thanks for your efforts. Look forward to seeing any additional ideas!

Here are some ideas for the wordmark under the icon.....#81 #82 #83 #84

I will be out of my studio until around noon on Monday, I have a meeting in the morning. If you decide to end early, but still need some revisions, I can supply those via your personal e-mail (Logo Tournament only provides an upload of the master file), but I can get you additional tweaks after the fact. There is generally no charge for small changes (font, type, color)

In case you are wondering #82 is my favorite. I think it ties the whole thing together nicely, but you have a better feel for the community you are trying to reach, and what might appeal to them...so only take my opinion as an artistic one, and not absolute.

Thanks again,
Paul

Thanks for the new ideas. I think it will come down to either #42 or #81, but #82 I ranked high, even before I read your email, because I also think it has potential. I hope to hear back from my group members by evening, then respond to you with our final preference and finally end the contest!

We're going with #82! The only change we would like you to make is to change the "City on a Hill Church" colors to black, along with the line to the left of the word church. I'm going to end the contest now. We're excited to be moving forward!
