Welcome to logo tournament. I hope I can be of service to you. I specialize in Real Estate logos and have had great success with Keller Williams clients on this site already. Here are some KW clients who have selected my work:
I try to keep them unique and shy away from the stereotypical logos that can dominate your industry. I also feel it needs a boldness to make it recognizable on a sign from a distance...even before the words can be read. Thin lines and words only tend to be hard to read from a distance and are proven to not "stick" in ones mind. I try to give a unique icon that invokes a memory of recognition even without the client needing to read the wordmark.
I chose elements using the "Little White Picket Fence" as it is often tied to the American Dream of home ownership
I welcome your feedback and suggestions. Best Regards,
Thank you so much for your designs...a breath of fresh air. Overall, I LOVE the fact that your designs use more subtle shades of the black/red KW colors. I also like that you understand about signage...and the readability of the image, and yes, I very much want to have something different and stand out from the crowd. I understand the connection with the picket fence, its a good theme, but honestly, these seem awfully similiar to other winners. Having said that I understand that it is difficult to find a "new" image that hasn't been done to death. #44 This one is a little too busy for me...not a fan on the swoosh over the name. #45 For some reason I see this more as a church with snow. #46 I like the simplicity...not a fan of the font...especially the Q #47 The fence seems to get lost in this one. I welcome other ideas....
Keep in mind also that often a logo will need to be used horizontally for space reasons. (Letterhead, web banner etc...) Here is an example of that layout....
My favorite of mine so far....This one is unique, but simple. It is clean and stands out boldly from a distance. It is also web friendly as square icons work best on the net.
#85 and #190 I am really conflicted. I like the larger name, font and icon in 190, but the black and red in 85 seem to stand out..really pop. However, in 85, Cindy seems to almost disappear at a distance...blends into all the black. How would Cindy look more white? I think a black card, or black sign would be very compelling and different, but am very concerned about readability and contrast. I realize we are in judging phase now, and I cannot promise this will be final choice. Still I respect your opinion, and did not see your earlier comments until just now. If you do not wish to spend more time on this, I will understand. Again, many thanks for your designs..there were among the most original and different.
A general rule is that Dark backgrounds make things more visible from a distance than white backgrounds....so your right on track. I have an idea that I will work on in the next hour or so to make it all pop a little more.
If you'll hold the rankings long enough, I'll submit it tonight. (Only the top ranked designer can submit during judging)
I love this design. I think it has more movement and is more interesting. It gives the hint of tradition with the fence and roof line, while having modern curves. It tells a great story about your business.
#225) and #226) The white pops much more now, as does the bolder, bigger font...thank you! It's a tough choice between the designs...I respond more to the larger amount of red/black that is visible in the house and sky on 225. Of course this is partially due to the straight line fence. I agree there is more movement in 226, but I'm not sure I like the fence post so close to the frame. I guess 225 just seems more balanced overall to me. I really like the font you used, especially that Q. However, I've gotten some pretty strong feedback from friends and colleagues...almost everyone prefers upper/lower case. People seem to think dotting the i, helps make my name more readable. Thoughts on that? Thanks Paul !
Cindy - Just an idea, but what if the fence sloped downward to show more of the red? It slopes upward and hides it as it is. This would still provide the movement, while emphasizing the palette. I could do that for you when I return to the studio this evening.
I'm not trying to say the straight fence does not work well here as well. Just as an artist, I like the additional feature of the scalloped fence.
Thank you! Really, I would never want you or any of the designers to feel that I am being overly critical...it's nice to know you are open to discussion. In my mind this is defnitely a collaborative effort, and I appreciate your insight and experience as well. I look forward to seeing your latest. Thanks for the dotted "i"s!
Cindy - I have been working on the sloped (Down) fence, but havent been satisfied with the result. I will give it another go this evening when I return. I am starting to think that the straight fence may be the way to go here. Like I said though if we can slope it to show MORE red than I think that would work. I will try and upload something before the head hits the pillow tonight
I'm also thinking that if we offset the roof line a little in #227 like it is in #226 that it may become even more interesting and eye catching. Things slightly off center tend to attract the eye more than perfect symmetry does. So if your time allows I would like to try that this evening as well.....
Really like this one....roof is offset to the right gives and it more offset interest to the icon. ....(Thats designer talk for it catches the eye better ;-)
As a bit of a recap: #228 and #229 are my favorites. They catch the eye with the slight offset. Symmetrical icons "hide" more than offset ones. It captures what you do and who your target is. It is web friendly. (Most web icons/logos these days are square. This makes them functional for favicons, app icons etc...The square shape also makes it sign friendly. It lays out vertically and horizontally with equal presence. It is simple and at the same time bold enough to be noticeable from a distance. (More complex designs with thinner lines tend to appear blurred and do not stand out from down the street.)
Please don't hesitate to let me know if I can help further. I truly appreciate the good feedback.
I understand about the offset interest..that's why I am leaning toward #227 at the moment...the newel post is not directly under the peak of the roof. I also like that there is more of the graytones in the sky on that one. However, I like the larger, brighter name & "realtor" on #226. Can you put the icon from #227 with the words on #226? After much debate back and forth I think I am leaning toward the non-dotted " i " .
Paul, since you are familiar with KW and have winning entries with other KW agents, I'm wondering if you know if any of them have ever gone with a black business card and/or black yard sign. I'm concerned about the KW marketing standards and incorporating this logo into an approved sign. The business card has more leeway. Thank you for the changes!
Its my understanding that the KW logo has to be near your logo. Gatti Group is KW and they chose black. I dont think its a problem: logotournament.com/contests/the_gatti_group
