This is a really nice design Holli. Would it be possible to somehow work in the "graduation cap" idea? Perhaps the same bird but on a branch with the cap on? I love the colors and the overall look of what you've done ... would love to see more.

Hi Art,
Thanks for your feedback, it's very appreciated. Entry #45 uses the graduation cap in much the same manner as you've seen before with the company essentially wearing the cap. Entry #46 takes a different spin with the cardinal as the carrier of the cap, bringing the cap to your clients.
Thanks,
Holli

Thanks Holli! That looks great .... any chance I could see the cardinal with a couple of changes? I'd like the head feathers a bit more prominent and would it be possible to see the tail pointed backwards rather downward.

Thanks for the feedback Art! Entry #53 with your changes, and a more forward motion of the bird.

NIce ... I like that much better. I'm keeping you in the top five, so you can move on to the next phase.

Hi Holli! I'm happy to have you in the next phase of the competition. Might I be able to see a combination of #45 and #53? The graduation cap on the C but the more forward facing cardinal? Also, might we make the head feathers a bit more prominents than they are currently?

Thanks so much for your work!

Hi Art,
Thank you for moving me into the next round! Entry #65 has both changes, thank you again!

Thanks Holli! I like the cap on the "C" much better. Would it be possible to play around with the font, especially on "Educational Consulting"? I'm looking for something a little bolder, maybe more "masculine" if that makes sense. Also not sure how I feel about the double line in red under "Cardinal."

Thanks so much for your time and effort.

Hi Art,
Entries #66 and #67 in the same font as before, but more bold, and #67 in red. Entry #68 uses a similar style font, but one that has angles that are closer to 90°, lending to a more masculine look. Please let me know if you'd like to see anything else, I'm happy to continue refining!
Thank you!

Thanks, I like #67 a lot! Could we try a couple of things?

1) #67 but with a tiny beat of yellow .... the beak, and a yellow tassle off the cap that that's it's really clear that it's a graduation cap
2) The cardinal perched on the cap with less "movement" (so that it doesn't appear in flight).

I have a good friend who has done this before who is very impressed with your work (as am I). We think you'll be able to run with those two changes and come up with something great!

If you think that "perched on the hat" is too similar to the other designer in the Top Five (and might violate the rules about whose idea is whose), perhaps a branch running under the words "Educational Consulting" with the cardinal on that as if he's just dropped the cap on the C. I kinda like that idea. =)

Entries #72, #73 and #74 using an olive branch, which is also common symbolism used in university seals. Although, I've put it between the words, I'm also happy to give you options with it below. I found the layering interesting between the beak and the cap.

Thank you for your sensitivity to the designer rules!

Thanks ... I like the idea, but perhaps with a couple of changes.

1) Not really keen on the olive branch (I find the leaves distracting) ... just a regular old tree branch perhaps? 2) Could we try the branch below the two lines of wording, rather than through the two lines?
3) And could we move the beak above the cap, rather than having it look like the cap is still in the cardinal's mouth?

I like the cardinal and the little pops of yellow. I think we're on to something here!

That looks great! Could we try it with the tassle just a bit "thicker" and not overlapping the "C"? Also, could the branch have a couple of tinier branches brancing off of it?

Thanks!

That's awesome ..... love what you did with the branch! The tassel looks much better too. I can't think about much I'd change at this point. My only possible concern is about how the design will translate to black and white. One of the places I'm going to end up using the design is in programs for high school events (sporting events, concerts, etc ... ) which will all be black and white, and I wonder if it will translate well (especially the eye ... I feel like it might get "lost"). What do you think?

One of my friends thinks the latest design (which I have ranked first) looks more like a piece of art than a logo. I'm not sure I agree with that ..... but could I see the exact same one with a solid black line replacing the branch? So the cardinal is perched on a solid black line that runs under the words.

Hi Art,
I'm glad you like it! The logo will easily translate into black and white, and I can make some minor adjustments at that point so that the eye doesn't get lost. But, since it's a black eye, already on black, you'll pretty much see a direct translation with some highlighting. I'm happy to make that last group of changes for you to put the cardinal on a solid black line instead of the branch. I'll have those changes for you shortly!
Thanks,
Holli

Entry #87 with the line!

Hi Art,
Because boybud40 has taken issue with my use of the graduation cap on the letter C, I've had to withdraw all those entries. My apologies, I can't submit any new concepts at this stage in the contest. If you choose one of my other designs, I'll be happy to continue working with you, even after the LogoTournament contests are over. Thank you!

Hi Art,
Entries #93 and #92 without the hat, I hope these will still work!
Thanks for your consideration,

Those look great .... I'm going to have some friends weigh in (I'm bad at making decisions in a time constraint!) today, but right now I have the one with the solid line ranked first.
