registration marks here provide a colorful, noticeable aspect that most consumers won't expect from a company that has been established since the 1800s. the vivid colors are inviting and reflect a feeling of advancement, current and agile - particularly of interest in this current economic perspective of the paper business. in that regard, this shows a positive light on your company and what you could be able to do for someone's business. the font is easily legible and the Bradner doesn't overpower the Smith and vice versa. I hope you see something here you like. best of luck on your contest

this goes along with my previous entry, just a little twist on the presentation of the imagery surrounding the text/title. the base foundation of the logo is on stacks of flat, hard edged paper as opposed to the rounded corners of loose paper as submitted by so many others. I think this logo in particular could potentially be done in a variety of ways, giving you flexibility in presentation while sticking to the same logo. By this I mean, if you were doing any promotions or private labeling for business cards or large format printing, you could use this exact logo. But if you were promoting books or bound printing, you could lay this logo on a base foundation of open pages of a book. Or if you were promoting signage, you could lay this logo on something else, and so on. I hope this makes sense. The point is, that the logo is the colorful reg. marks and the text, while the border or backing foundation is easily replaceable, allowing you to reflect your business as agile, flexible and potentially more than a printer - but really a business solution company. I hope this all makes sense and applies to your needs. best of luck in your logo selection

Both of these are intruiging. The registration mark is imaginitive and easily recognizable to our clientle since most of our paper is sold for printing. I also like #59 but the background looks more like an envelope, something we're not involved in. Most of our clients are printing either a catalog, a magazine, or advertising pieces. But from what I understand, this is the background and could easily be changed. I like both of these because they reflect the END product which I think is more relatable to our client, versus the raw paper. I don't think the multi-color name would work for us though. It's too "fun", and we are a very conservative company. I think having Bradner Smith in all blue, a darker blue, would be a better fit for us. Also, I think "Smith" overpowers "Bradner" a bit. Thanks for your creativity and design!

Regarding both 58 and 59, I think the font is too fun too for us. I am not critisizing, I'm just saying that we're a pretty staid company and I think we need a more serious font. Would you also be interested in having the "heavyweights in paper since 1852" in all grey or all black. I think it may be too much to have them in different shades/colors. Thanks.

great feedback, thanks for the direction. Yes, the font would need to be changed given the fact that you are a more conservative company and want a more polished, 'serious' look. Excellent point and I agree. I'll try reworking some things you mentioned here. Thank you very much. All the best.

2 comment about #74 - it is receiving a lot of attention here. It was suggested that the color dots be limited to CMYK, the basic colors of printing which I clientle will relate to, and changing the dots to rectangles, as in #73 would be good I think so the slogan could span the rectangled colors. Also, I like the whole slogan of "heavyweights in paper since 1852", (as it is in #73) rather than the two phrases being separated. So I guess its an amalgamation of #73 and #74. We like the font and uppercase in #74, as well as the black circle. We like the bars and whole slogan in #73. Also, if you want to deepen the blue color that would be good as a key decision maker is big on that. Sorry for all the adjustments, we really do appreciate the design and your hard work.

Disregard what I wrote about the # of colors in the color bars. I think you are correct in not limiting it to just CMYK. Some have said it may look to much like a rifle scope too, but in actuality, it does resemble a scope but that's not anyones fault, right?

Just a thought, because I really like the color bars - do you want to submit something like #74, but took the registration "bullseye" OUT of it? Again, amagamating our preferences of #73 and #74, but eliminating the bullseye? I still like the original, but another submission without it may put you in a better shot at winning with the other decision makers.

this is different from what I've been submitting. this has a higher-end, more expensive looking logo with the sertif, tall text and the burnt orange color. gestural design for the flowing paper behind the word mark. clean lines, simple layout with nothing too complex, and a healthy amount of negative space. i think this will look good in a variety of formats for you, especially due to the the symmetry. by this i mean, it is a compact logo without hard lines for borders like a circle or rectangle holding everything together. i'll submit a black and white, too, so that you can see how this will work for a BW or two color print.

thanks for the notes on the bullseye- registration "scope" crosshairs- element and the other directions. i've taken those notes and tried a few things with them. this shows the bradner smith & co. the way you liked in one logo combined with the rectangle CMYK and Black-Gray colors, stretched out and balanced. the thing i liked about the circle registration mark is that it held the logo together. it served as a border or frame to contain the wordmark with the colors. so, with that in mind, i've removed the bullseye and added a gestural flowing paper illustration to anchor the wordmark and the colors. lots of negative space, colorful without getting to detailed. i have another to upload with some details added.

this has a shadow on the paper illustration, so the paper doesn't just go off into white space. i rather like both looks, so i think it's just a preference thing. also, i've added some registration crop marks on this. the more i look at it, the less sure i am about it. on one hand, it gives a little extra eye movement for noticeability and reflects something iconic for your industry. whether you are in design, printing, advertising, publishing - you recognize crop marks alongside the CMYK colors. on the other hand, it sort of interferes with the other lines in the design and has potential to be perceived as a line or two that looks out of place. if nothing else, you can compare this with the other in this series to see which details appeal to you more.

You are a machine. They are all great! My favorite so far is #86. I'm wondering what it would look like if you took the color bars from #90, put them to the left of the slogan, left the Bradner Smith & Company all in blue, and put the slogan in grey, the same as the shadow. If you're not burnt out yet it would be cool to see that. Thanks for all the hard work and the great ideas!

Hello LaRue9, anything you can do regarding my comment above from July 31st?

Sure. I think that would make for an interesting look. Kind of a mix between the two entries. I'll try that later today and submit it soon. Thanks.

Posted a few here with this latest request in mind. I thought the squares/rectangles looked out of place with the circle enclosed "& Co." so i tried one draft here with circles instead. I like both actually. Hope this gives you the looks you had in mind. if not, let me know and I can try reworking in time. Thanks

So good they're hard to choose from. It's between you and one other now I believe. Thanks again!

just posted three alternatives to the design. the wordmark shows lower case text in the brand name, easily seen and recognizeable blue base for the white letters to stand out. good luck in your contest.
