Thanks so much for your logo! I have to say I quite like it but in my mind, whenever I look at it, I sort of see it as a T-shirt design. The tapware is definitely very nice but the font somehow doesn't work for us. Maybe that's where the T-shirt feeling I get comes from. Also, we will be a craft beer bar and will not brew our own beer on the premises so can't really be called brewing company but that's just details.
Just checked out your website and you have a great talent for creating logos. All in all, this one is great and I don't really have anything I would change about it. For our needs, however, we prefer something colorful and playful, something friendly that invites people in to try new beers and talk to us and other customers about it.
Thanks again for your suggestion, we really appreciate your time and effort!
I agree and I don't think it is 100% either. I came across your contest with little time left yesterday and I love craft beer and bar/brewery type logos so just wanted to put something together and get into "top 5" . I'll refine the design some more today and have some more concepts for you.
Interesting. Now I'm finally starting to get the Logo Tournament name of this place, definitely seems like you guys are at each others' throats once you get to the later phases of a logo contest. :P To think we only had one not-so-good logo submitted a few hours before the end of the open phase... we were getting a bit desperate.
This is interesting, I'd never even thought to look for a place of this sort but was told about it by an Aussie homebrewer friend of mine and the idea behind this website is awesome. I do kind of feel bad for the designers that don't win if they submit multiple good entries - such as Logowagon. They are good entries but they are all quite simple for our taste and despite my message to him he keeps reposting the same type of logos that do not really capture the idea(s) behind our craft beer bar. They seem a bit "cold" to me. To be perfectly honest, I am aware we didn't put in too much money (by Western standards anyway) to deserve a really complex logo but even this much seriously filters in when you've quit your jobs and are trying to start educating people about craft beer - especially here in this neck of the woods where people drink mostly commercial lager beers that cost some 1 - 1.5 EUR per pint. They think Czech/Slovak filtered and pasteurized beer-flavored water is the shit and they've never tasted anything from an authentic craft brewery (which are now slowly beginning to pop up here and there).
Anywho, to get to the point. I really like your logo designs. They are pretty good and all three would definitely look good on glassware. No doubt about it. I really love how differently people from different cultures envision things. I would've never thought to connect beer nirvana with 'tap sun'. I think that is genius but unfortunately as only about 30% of my country speaks English (by speak English I mean 30% are able to hold a conversation in English), I'm thinking this might get a little lost on them.
I can honestly tell you we love quizas' logo the most. It clearly portrays what the place is about - many beer taps (by our standards anyway), friendly and fun, I'd definitely be interested to check that place out. It does look a bit 'childish' in a way I suppose but the details in the letters themselves (CO2 bubbles in the beer part of the letters, foam dripping down, the fact the "beervana" name is composed of beer and foam, shadows on the tap handles) are cool and we can simply cut out the name and use it whenever we need a less complex logo. People would still recognize the brand/place. I definitely appreciate your three suggestions and think they're great but people here would be definitely more intrigued to walk into a place that's more descriptive in the logo, especially if they don't know much if anything at all about craft beer.
Just for the idea, this is the place we finally managed to lease a couple days back. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9t3le3kbupjeg6t/20150414_184213.jpg?dl=0 I know it looks very cool in the picture but it's quite a fixer-upper as it's close to 100 years old and we'll be doing most work by ourselves. Will be mostly old wood and stone inside, we're thinking Italian restaurant meets punk/hipster in a way (not sure if that makes any sense but as most of the work is yet to be done, it's hard for me to put a name on the style). Should fit about 100 people inside and about 40-50 or so outside on the terrace. We're super excited about it and the logo/sign would go above the main entrance, in the rectangular metal frame. We do plan to use the logo on the building, glassware, t-shirts, coasters and maybe a billboard or two. Especially the billboard and the building itself can really take advantage of there being details in the logo.
I'm sorry for posting such a long message, I just wanted to give you a thorough understanding of what's going on in our heads. We're really passionate about good beer, have been homebrewing for years now and are trying to make a difference. The logo sells and we're trying to convert as many craft beer virgins as we can. Speaking of which, there was an episode of Brew Dogs where they visited Durham last year. Not sure if it's something you're interested in but saw Raleigh mentioned on your website so I thought I'd mention it.
Anywho, I'm deviating from the topic again.... My point is, if there is anything you'd like to ask me, anything at all, please shoot. We definitely appreciate your approach, your time and all the effort when it comes to the logos and feel really bad for anyone who does good work and tries but doesn't win in the end.
I love the craft beer oasis bit ... That's what we were thinking for the slogan for a while too... Later on we decided on "pivo inak" which in our language means "beer differently". It is shorter and sounds better, gets your attention. I'll show these new ones to my buddy but my opinion from the previous message still stands. These are really nice but I'm not so sure they are good for us and the place.
One more thing. The taps in the shape of sun - looked like a ship wheel to me when I just scrolled up/down fast. It's interesting because I suppose that's how it would look like to most people (especially those who don't know much about beer and beer dispensing systems). They might think it has to do with sailing or boats.
No problem. I appreciate your thoughtful comments.
I guess it is different design styles for different areas of the world and I appreciate your honesty to in letting me know I'm not going to the right direction.
Quizas style isn't mine and I don't think it is a direction I can go in. It is a bit dated style (for these parts - especially in the craft beer world) and in my eyes would be taking a step backwards. I can't really justify working on something if my heart isn't in it. I'm sure you understand.
I may come up with something later today, so if you would like to keep me in the top 5 feel free to do so. If not, no problem.
Best of luck with the rest of your contest and your new venture! -Brian
I absolutely understand your point and I agree it might be a somewhat dated design in a way, especially in the craft beer world in the US. I'm not saying this style is 'in' around here either, all I'm saying is that it says what we're trying to say and does so in an inviting and friendly way that people would understand.
The US is 10 years ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to craft beer and even I only discovered that a couple years back. Our problem is in the long history of quality beer being brewed around here (up until major multinational breweries bought up all the regional breweries a couple decades ago anyway) and people don't know much about beer in general. They keep drinking their HGB lagers and that's what we're trying to change.
Are you kidding, I'm definitely keeping you in the top 5! You might be number 2 for us at the moment but that doesn't mean we don't like your work. To be honest, there is no top 5. There really is only top 3 for us, if we count in Logowagon. The rest is just not very interesting.
Either way, thank you very much for your designs and if you get inspired and come up with something later, please do share.
Thanks again for your time in creating the logos and commenting.
Hey... my partner in crime and I very much like #37 as it does feel quite professional but I just can't get over the fact it looks to me like a trowel or float. The taps also remind me of bowling pins at first glance. Might be difficult with people who are just passing by the place and don't know much about beer.
I really appreciate all your work on this and have to say that my friend from Wisconsin thought all your logos were awesome.
I'm not sure our preference is a cultural thing as I had studied in Amsterdam with people from many cultures and quite a few of my European/Asian friends preferred your logos as well. A few of them said that the one we're thinking of going for makes them think "Disneyland" to which I replied that it's sort of supposed to be a Disneyland for beer drinkers.
I get that our choice might seem funny and does not exactly go with the 'modern craft beer scene', I am well aware of that. However, we're trying to be different than anybody else and if my buddy and I both feel this one will work best where we come from, we have to follow our gut. I hope you understand.
You create brilliant logos and I'll definitely keep your website bookmarked and you in mind for the future in case I find myself in need of your skills.
