I forgot to mention the logo is simply the beginning of the brand quest for the website. Afterwards, I would like to create a customized look (CSS) page to complete the entire feel/look of the site. I thought a cool ABSTRACT mark might be a twist on the "Skull and Crossbones." That is, Scissors as the 'crossbones.' A heart, star, or something beauty related (ie bottle of polish) as the 'Skull." This was inspired by the TokiDoki.it design. I'm not 100% committed to this. But it might get your gears turning. I can imagine this on a Mug or as a default profile picture for the website if members don't upload their own photos. Definitely want to go Punk and Edgy with this (I guess like Affliction Clothing or Ed Hardy).

In terms of the WORDMARK, I thought this image from 'Tabathas Salon Takeover" was clever (they used scissors as negative space)

I think in the end, I will choose the winner based on overall understanding of the brand. You might have a terrible WORDMARK or none at all, but an amazing ABSTRACT icon -and you could still win.

My hope is we can continue to work together on future projects for this site. The winner will be added as an Administrator to the website and have full control of the branding and identity.

PICTORAL MARKS/EMBLEMS/ABSTRACT MARKS will be used on Letterhead, Merchandise, Default Profile Photos, etc...so keep those in mind.

Thanks to all the early designers for the messages and early feedback. To be clear and help guide you along, there are 2 things I am requesting but I guess one is more important than the other: 1. A WORDMARK that will be used as the header. 2 The PICTORAL/EMBLEM/ABSTRACT MARK will be used in merchandising/logos/ etc...

The PICTORAL is more important to me. The WORDMARK is not as critical. Therefore, if you were to focus on one thing, I would focus on the PICTORAL representation of the brand.

The Skull & Crossbones idea (mentioned on Dec 30th @ 12:43PM) was the PICTORAL.
The Tabathas Salon Takeover example was WORDMARK.

Focus on the PICTORAL. =] I hope this helps.

What about a directors chair? Salon Chair? Many actors have their own chairs with their names on it....just an idea that someone is welcome to expand upon if it captures your imagination.

These are brass knuckles, but it could be redesigned to look like scissors and a Tiara. It's the closest image i could find that could show you what i mean...

I remember your design also being near the top at some point..
I'm not 100% percent sure on the small graphic additions (except the scissors), but the lettering on your design (white version) is way better than on the ranked ones.

What's the status on this contest? eyefibre's logo has been up on the beautyrockstars site for a bit now but not declared the winner?
