What We Do
Directly and through subsidiaries, we provide an array of technical solutions to our customers, including geographic information systems (GIS) services (some examples: digital mapping, spatial analysis, natural resource planning, site selection, geographic market research, watershed analysis), solar photovoltaic installations, project management, and software development to name a few.

Color Preferences
I don't want to limit your imagination in any way, so feel free to play around with any and all colors. However, I guess I imagine greens, blues and greys as the primary colors. If you can work a splash of light (alpenglow or otherwise), or a more vibrant colour into the image (red or orange) then feel free to give it a go too!
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Just ideas here...but perhaps images of the earth (or globe) as a reference to mapping/GIS, and/or a horizon (solar and also GIS), and natural elements like mountains, pine forests, rivers or lakes (environmental awareness and resource management). I don't think there is a need to enphasize 'technology' in any way, unless you can come up with something really creative that works with the other components.

These are my comments on the first 4 logos that I have received thus far:

I liked the natural, classic feel of logo #2, and the font colour used. Logo #1 has a nice colour scheme for the logo itself, and the use of mountains, but wasn't fond of the arrow or the font choice necessarily. As for logos #3 and #4, I liked the use of the 3D globe with the lines of latitude/longitude, and I had not thought of using the google placemark/pin symbol before which was clever. However, I did not like the swoosh used to symbolize a mountain, the checkmark, or the futurustic/techy feel (especially the font). Hopefully this initial feedback helps, and I look forward to seeing more submissions!

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

I just updated the contest brief to better explain what I am looking for. Here are those comments for your reference.

Perhaps it would also help if I were to mention that this is a smaller company, and one that might be headquartered in a beautiful little alpine town deep in the mountains of British Columbia. This fact might help you come up with the imagery and 'feel' that I'm after, and might also better explain why I do not favour a heavily big city 'corporate' or 'generic techy futuristic' type of logo design. I'd rather a more natural, classic design that would feel at home on a nice sign in a small mountain town. In light of this, I think its important to emphasize the 'natural' elements aspect of the logo, in a more classic design rather than 'futuristic' or a 'generic corporate technology' feel. Earth, mountains, trees, sunlight, horizon just as examples of items you might choose. Although I had mentioned 3D logos, I'd also like to see 2D options or simpler silhouettes even.

Hope this helps you guys with further submissions!

Congrats to the top 5 designers! I'll try to provide as much feedback and ideas as I can during the judging phase. I seem to prefer logos that are creative with their use of the white negative space yet it is an important part of the design. It helps to use the negative white space because fewer colours are required and this makes for easier/less costly printing later on (limiting to 2 or 3 colours), as well as allowing for a more 'brand-type' image. I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on a perfectly round or circular logo though, so feel free to play around with the shapes (like #48 does for example).

I'm not sure if it is possible (or even wise to try because I don't want a feminine looking logo), but nobody has submitted a logo with the actual colour of 'Alpenglow' in it. If you want to see what Alpenglow looks like (or what natural phenomenon it actually refers to), check out the colour of this mountain photo : http://www.redresort.com/rossland/
