Great stuff Alexander. Thanks for your submissions. It is getting harder to rank all of these logos, as there are some solid entries. I liked #48 the best I suppose because of its simple design, its splash of colour and that it hits some key elements I was after, but without making them so overly obvious. I liked that it wasn't perfectly circular as so many of the other entries are, yet it was symmetrical. I also liked the simplicity of some of your other entries as well and the colours too, but I think they were either just too square or circular in nature. Maybe also try a smooter font, although the one you selected isn't bad.
As for #48, I like your use of colours and white space and also that it isn't perfectly round or square. I think you tried to make the green area look like a leaf, or a hillside, or a slightly folded map (with grid lines). I like the multiple views that you can take when looking at this logo depending on what you might be looking for. Maybe try a larger green hill shape, or multiple hills...or maybe try to play around with the size and shape of the yellow area (assuming it represents the sun or horizon)...but don't delete #48 as is because its pretty good (as are #51 and #50).
Just throwing out some more ideas for you here and thinking outside of the box so you have some ammunition for other different logo submissions. Some other interesting objects people used in the logo designs was google's waypoint icon, or a north arrow / wind vein some kind?
Also...I don't know if it is even wise to try this (as I don't want a feminine looking logo), but nobody as of yet has tried to actually use the colour of 'Alpenglow' in the logos. If you want to see what Alpenglow looks like (and what natural phenomenon it actually refers to), check out the colour of the mountain tops in this photo: http://www.redresort.com/rossland/
Thank very much for the great rank and feedback! I will make variations as soon as possible. Any new idea from you is welcomed.
I'm very happy that you understand what I tried to do with #48. As you said, all that was in my mind and wanted to represent them in my design. I will make few variations for that design soon.
Again, good work Alexander. Try another version of #93, but with fewer jagged mountain peaks. Maybe even the one you used in #51 (or even a touch less peaked if you have to). I'm not sure what font I like better between #93 and #48.
Don't forget about logo #51 either. That one keeps growing on me and is pretty nice. I still would like to see variations of that one too...but I know you are busy with #48 and #93.
GREAT entries with #97 and #95! I love what you did with #97. #95 is awesome too except I think I still prefer the regular coloured font with that logo.
Thanks for adding more submissions Alexander! I like the font colour of #99 better compared to #95 (although I might still use #95 for printing purposes...but I like #99 better for the web). As for the type of font, we could sort that out later if needed but the one you've chosen isn't bad at all. Not sure I'm sold though on the darker red colour of the sun/horizon on #99. I think I like the yellow better on #95. Speaking of the sun, I'm still open for ideas on how we can make that part of the logo even better represent 'solar'. As it stands, your logo entries #97 and #51 already do a great job of representing solar.
Regarding the grid and mountain section of the logos #99 and #95, just so you know what I am thinking on that part of the logo design...it is basically representing a 3D mountainous terrain model, overlayed with a grid. 3D terrain modelling and mapping is actually something commonly done in GIS circles, and this is why I like that part of the logo. Knowing this, and what it is meant to represent, if you can somehow still improve on that part of the logo feel free to try some things.
