Here's 2 variations of my first entry... please come back back to me with any feeback.
The little "captain wheel" symbol can be adapted to an Iphone Icon very easily. If you choose me as a winner in the final I will make you this Icon for free and I will also give you a "hiend 3d" effects version of your logo very Internet and some hiend print use. The original logo will be perfect for everyday prints and other needs such as t-shirts prints and embroidery.
Wow - that was quick! I just wrote that stuff about helms!
We like #10 more. I'm not sure about the cut off part of the bottom of the text. I don't understand what that is. Also, it doesn't say "guidebook" to me.
That helm is an interesting color combo that could work on embroidery too. I'd want to ask some hat makers to see what they think if we move toward using it.
I will remove that cut if you dont like... I wanted to give it a "sea wave" style... think this not working very well haha.
About the color: Note that I can give you the final document in every color that you will want. This is not a problem.
About the embroidery or other garment prints: I am a Graphic Designer since 12 years now but I also own my own clothing company... so I know exactly what you need and what can be printed or not.
about #12: I personaly designed this helm so thanks.
about #13: I am surprise that you dont like this one, it's much inspired from your own icon. I must say that it was a pretty good idea to use this rss symbol.
I will come with some other design... probably tomorrow.
Yes your comments are really helpful. I am also new with this but for what I know, more comments you will give, much better are the chances to get what you wants. It's also really recommended to rank the logos and to mark the ones you dont like as "not interested". This will give some guide lines to the designers.
I don't like #16 and #17's direction - looks like a bottle cap to me.
#15 would make an awesome iPhone app logo. It just doesn't make sense as the company logo though. But #12 as the company logo with #15 as an application logo is a good combination. It has the company part in there in a way that doesn't dominate and still relates. That's really good.
#14 looks like a clock. I don't like that symbol. When people are on their boat, they get away from clocks and schedules. Time is supposed to stand still!
Is there any way to bring a "guidebook" concept into #12's direction?
Other symbols besides helms that are good are anchors, buoys, compass rose's, waves, nautical flags...
Why the 1/4 view for the full company logo for #18? It definitely makes sense for an application icon. I'm also worried about how that would work in stitching.
Dont worry about embroidery or stitching... they can do very small details. Have a look at most collar tag from most shirts you will see how small they can go !!
I will try something different soon... thanks for the feedback !!
Don't take this wrong, but #59 makes me think that the boat sunk and the helm is floating in the water. I'm not sure that's the best image we want people to think about!
