Nice concept. My wife realy liked these. In all, I think the V is over emphasised. One reason for the V or VV was to create a unique wordmark for the logo. The other reason to use a V is to distinguish our two wines the Q & V. If I was going to use one of the V styles you came up with to signify or V wine, I would choose one with grape leaves (though to be a stickler I would probably ask that they be Cabernet Sauvigon leaves just in case anyone knows the difference. Yours is a merlot). see http://www-plb.ucdavis.edu/labs/rost/virtual%20grape%20dreamweaver/Leaves%20Shapes%20.htm #70G - the two lines of the name are too close together and it doesn't work as well having them the same size. #76 - Like the font, like the coloring, like the soze differences in the name. #79 - Like the font, I also thing the size diff is nicely balanced though the Vineyards does get a little over powered. #80 - Like the coloring, and the two coloured name. Again the vineyards seems to get a little overpowered. #83 - It pops a bit more on a black background. Vineyards seems more readable. Lastly, this is all going to be on a wine label approximately 93mm by 110mm.
89-92 - Like the coloring: thanks for the cab leaf. I prefer the borders on #89Z, prefer the fuller backdrop in #89. Like the look of the "vineyards" not so crazy about the Veraison. It's a hard name to pronounce and I don't want to make it hard to read as well. Not so happy on the dusty rose color. Better for a white or a rose, than a beefy cabernet. Put more emphasis on the Veraison. Thanks. Send me a private message with your email address if you want to see pictures of Franshhoek and the vineyard on the Kodak site. I can only share to specific email addresses.
Like the colouring and tendrils on #102, like the shading gradient. The best of all your designs would be #102 with the V and background of #80 and the text of #76, but even with that you would not get in top spot.
Sorry, I had orginally posted this at the Contest level. #130, #129 - Very clever. Prefer 130, though I might drop the V a tad so some of the background fills out over the top of the letter, just to frame it more. Welcome to number 1. #131 - Think I would prefer the V in 130, just dropped. #133 - Like it dropped, prefer the V in 130.
Use the negative space of the V in #130, but drop the V down. When you do that. You'll have a "red" V. Which will look like you used a V cookie cutter and took a cut out of the background. Is that clearer?
Ah I see the problem. Take #130, and slide the V down. As you do that, background will show up above the letter highlighting the tops of the V. I like the background.
i dont see it as a problem. the main idea of the V placed like it is right now is that the wine is filling it floating from the background. if i slide it down(which i will do) and the background will be seable above the letter - this feeling will dissapear but... will do
OK see your point. I'll noodle on it. Oh, I see it now. A little wine swirling around in a glass? I think there is a contest on this site with a similar swirl concept. As it stands I prefer the latest incarnation. Maybe that V/glass/wine swirl/ concept will work later. The problem is, if we replace the V with a Q for our other wine. We lose the whole swirl thing.
Have to think on #177-#180. I prefer the red series with white lettering (on that colour pallete). Not sure the colored leaves are working. #179, #180. Slightly prefer #177, the tendril seems to balance things out.
194, 196, 197 - Like #194s border the most, but not sure I would go for it in the final design. #196 - Like the change of position of the graphics and the white name. Would change to a white rose. Not crazy about the label shape. #197 -No elements i Prefer.
Lets move back to simpler, muted elements in background. Thanks.
#203-#208 -Interesting series, thank you. #203- Don't think the extra flowers on the side really add anything, though they do balance the label nicely. #204-#205 - Other than sizing, can't seen any diffs. #205-#206 - Prefer the cleaner 205. #207-#208 - Prefer #208. Like the four colours Favorite overall is #205.
#264-#254 - I think we've taken this series as far as we can. The pinks send a wrong message to me. The white would be very good for a rose. #260 is probably my favorite. Thanks.
