What We Do
Raptus Athletics is a sport performance brand that offers specialized coaching for athletes involved in strength sports AND athletic performance training for athletes involved in other team and individual sports. We work to ensure an athlete is ready to meet the demands of his/her sport. Raptus Athletics currently offers in-person training opportunities to athletes in the Stephenville, TX area and remote coaching to athletes located outside of Stephenville. I would like to see Stephenville, TX appear in the logo as a geographical reference for potential clients.
The name “Raptus” is a Latin word that roughly translates to “snatch up forcibly” or more simply, “seized.” This is a play off of the classic weightlifting movement, the snatch, where an athlete lifts the bar from the floor to overhead in a single motion. I wanted to convey the active nature of improving oneself and tie it to the sport of weightlifting. Raptus Athletics has its roots in the sport of weightlifting and is branching out from this point.
We view sports as a microcosm of life... It is a place for us to encounter obstacles and form positive habits for facing them. It’s a place to learn the value of hard work. It’s a place to develop tools for facing adversity that prove invaluable when life knocks the wind out of us.
We have structured Raptus around the premise that discipline, consistency, and intensity are common factors in successful athletes AND successful people. It’s my goal to promote these ideas through Raptus and I wish to positively impact the trajectory of many lives through the implementation of discipline, consistency, and intensity. We are NOT just selling athletic programs, but a more disciplined, consistent, and intense lifestyle. I would like these principles to be present in the logo design either implicitly OR explicitly.
I don’t want our logo to be specific to weightlifting because we serve a broader group of athletes. Rather, focus on the principles that give Raptus its foundation. I am not looking for the “classic” strength and conditioning logo that depicts a barbell behind a company name. As our very first impression on a future client, I would like our logo to differentiate us from the “program pushers” that saturate the market.
Since Raptus will mostly be operating online for now, the logo must be attractive when displayed on a computer or mobile device.
I have not decided on brand colors for Raptus. I am open to anything you have for me.
Thank you for your time!!
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Strongly encouraged:
- Incorporate the ideas of discipline, consistency, and intensity (either explicitly or implicitly)
- Broad appeal to athletes of many different sports
- Include our location: Stephenville, TX
Possible ideas:
- Incorporate the latin meaning of Raptus, "to snatch up forcibly" in some way
- Play off of the idea that sports are a microcosm for life
- We are in a rural area. A classic western twist might work well
