Full Circle Urban Farm
My project is farming in and around Baltimore City, Maryland. Using underutilized land in the city for Urban Agriculture I seek to grow great produce in a sustainable way while also farming in the country. My growing methods integrate a cradle to cradle approach wherein the waste from one system becomes food for other systems. Composting worms process the harvested trays of microgreens into compost that I use as an amendment with my potting soil blend and compost tea fertilizer. I feed the abundance of worms generated on-site to fish in an aquaponics system. Gourmet mushrooms grow on agricultural waste and then become conservation landscaping material after fruiting.
I seek to close the ecological loop in sustainable farm management in order to revitalize the land I work on. I also seek to feed into local businesses in Baltimore City while sourcing all of my materials for production locally.
