Internal and possibly external Branding for an industrial refrigeration company

We are in the vacation home rental business and this logo is for our home named "Zapata Paradise" on Galveston Island. I would like to create a character name Zapata who will eventually takes on a personality of his own. I plan to use "Zapata" as the main character of a children's scavenger hunt at our airbnb. The character Zapata will be a part of the logo but not the main focal point. The logo is meant to be catchy and comical. Zapata in Spanish is the name of a shoe cobbler. I envision "Zapata" to be a fun/goofy beach bum character that has torn clothing, one torn up shoe with his toes sticking out and no shoe on the other foot.
