For more than half a century, AJFC Community Action has been a trusted advocate for individuals and families in Southwest Mississippi, helping them overcome poverty by giving voice to the needs and concerns of disadvantaged communities. By investing in community-based anti-poverty strategies, we confront the cycle of poverty head-on. Using a holistic approach, we leverage resources and funding from our local, state and federal partners to implement various services and programs to help low-income families reach and maintain self-sufficiency. With the support of volunteers and donations from concerned community members, we’re creating pathways to safer living conditions, education, nutrition and employment opportunities. Together, we will strengthen families and grow stronger economies while making Southwest Mississippi a better place to live, work and play.

The Mississippi Association of Community Action Agencies, Inc. (MACAA) stands as a beacon of support for Community Action Agencies and CSBG Eligible Entities, with a steadfast commitment to fortifying communities and fostering a cohesive Community Action presence throughout Mississippi. Our primary mission is to create opportunities that empower agencies to support individuals and families of low-income backgrounds to overcome the root causes and conditions of poverty. Through collaborative efforts, MACAA strives to facilitate the development of strategies and initiatives that promote self-sustainability within communities. For nearly six decades, Community Action Agencies associated with MACAA have been at the forefront of administering locally developed programs. These programs are thoughtfully crafted to address the unique and specific needs of each community. This localized approach ensures that our initiatives resonate with the diverse challenges faced by individuals and families across Mississippi. At MACAA, we believe in the transformative power of community-based solutions. By working hand in hand with our member agencies and partners, we aim to not only alleviate the immediate effects of poverty but also to implement sustainable measures that uplift communities over the long term.
